Re: 2011 Finger Lakes Regional!

Will someone please post the alliance selections after they are over?
I have to apologize, I can't read the text (I'm watching the live webcast, and the text is blurry) and I can't hear as well. Thank you, and Karthik is doing a great job being the MC.

What were 1518 red-carded for?

That's a massive penalty... a whole dq for the team.

Watching it makes me so sad that 1713 had too many budget issues to compete this year. Looks like a really fun game this year.

Good luck to all! Excellent fun watching the webcast!

Wow, really (REALLY) close win by blue alliance (340, 3157, 1126) against red (2056, 217, and 1518). It was won by 2 minibots that finished first and second for blue. 2056 failed to put on a minibot.

The 3rd finals match must've scared the heck out of the red alliance until about 45 seconds. Blue alliance was very close to winning the regional and making a huuuge upset. Unfortunately, it looks like one of the other minibots on the blue alliance was deployed too early. If the blue alliance would've gotten it in, they could've won the whole thing. Check that people, minibots are HUGE part of the game, and this match just proved it.

Congratulations to the red alliance. Great robots, great alliance.
Monster scouting by 1126 on blue alliance.

Amazing alliances on both sides of the finals. Congratulations 2056 and 217 and 1518, as well as 340 / 1126 / (team escapes me right now)

It looks like 340's minibot started going up, then a motor smoked.

The minibot from one of the blue alliance (can't remember) didn't go up/deployed too early. That cost them the entire match. If it went up, the blue alliance would've won.

This is exactly what happened In Finals Match 3. The minibot was successfully deployed and began moving up the pole for about a foot. Then a motor burned out.

Either way, great job 340! We were so proud to work with such close friends!

3157

And yes, the finals in eliminations were the best. The way JohnDarr explained the tie rules and hearing everyone on the blue alliance explode was amazing.

Amazing job by 2056, 217 and 1518. Congrats to 340, 1126 and 3157. A special congrats to 174's alliance captain for winning both highest rookie seed and rookie all star, team 3799. It was great working with you and 1511 in our quarterfinal match.

Also, a huge congrats to 340 on their 4th regional Chairmans award in a row. I really hope you all win at the Championship this year! Every team in Rochester is pulling for you.

Thank you to all the teams and volunteers that make this regional one of the best there is. See you all next year!

If everyone can post links to their photo galleries, that would be great.

Awesome job, everyone! What an incredible regional to be a part of!

The regional was a blast, and teams really gave eachother a run for their money!

I cannot wait to see who ends up on Einstein this year, it's SO exciting! Mini-bot REALLY makes end-game periods so much more exiting, and believe it or not, what some teams lack, those of others conquer.

Talk about scary!!!

This year has been the most fun in all my years so far, and I cannot wait to attend DC with the team and Boston with my mentors. :)

I look forward to some really great competition.

Re: 2011 Finger Lakes Regional!

This year's FLR was a blast. I am very proud to say we were a part of such a great regional. We've been in a bit of a rut the past few years, so to be able to make a comeback and go to the eliminations with two hometown heroes in 340 and 3157 was a tremendous honor on my/our part. The competition presented at the regional was tough. A lot of teams had solid minibots and hanging abilities, so a lot had to be done to neutralize teams like 340 and 1551 who had game-changing minibots.

I'd like to extend my own congratulations to team 217, 2056 and 1518. That is a true powerhouse alliance if I ever did see one. I'm honored to say we got to duke it out in the finals, going into a rubber match and losing by only 5 points. To say we went toe-to-toe with teams of such an amazing calibar is something I take pride in. Again, congratulations, and if you ever want to go another round, I'm dying for another shot at you guys ;)

Again, I congratulate everyone on another great Finger Lakes regional. This is my last one as a student, and I'm very happy with the overall competition and the energy levels. Keep it up ladies and gentleman. Keep making FLR one of the best in the country (at least, in my opinion :D )
