RoboProm

Hello all,

On behalf of Team 399, I would like to announce that we will be hosting our 5th Annual RoboProm this year at the National Championships in St. Louis, Missouri. Since its inception, the attendance to the event has doubled every year. Last year close to 800 people attended. This year, we're hoping to get more people to come and enjoy the fun.

The venue is yet to be determined, but will be announced in the near future. This year we are also having a really awesome, special, amazing guest, which will also be announced in the future.

We will keep you posted! :)

My students had a great time last year. I would make one small request, can you have a place where mentors can go to escape the noise for a while?

I am sure that Miss Daisy will be in attendance once again. Our kids had a great time the last two years.
The sooner you can get a date and location the better it will be for planning.

Good luck with the event planning!

It was well run for the 10 minutes or so I was there last year, but it was a bit far away and I really didn't like having to walk through / near a Tea Party rally to get there :o Have you guys secured a somewhat close by venue this year? :)

We haven't solidified the location yet but we're looking into hotels because of the attendance we expect. That should be much easier to find than last year. If we do end up with a strange location, we have contacts in St. Louis that will help with the map making.

Just wanted to add that this was a request many had and so we are working with FIRST Volunteers and Coordinators in the area to accommodate this request. This is a new area for us and we want to make this event easy to attend without requiring too much from teams in terms of travel and preparation.

As for having a mentor area, I will definitely look into having an area for mentors to relax as well ;)

Will it be open to any team even if they don't compete in Championships, they just? (I live in the St. Louis area, and although hopeful, we are planning just to watch the Championships)

glad to hear that you're going to have it again! If my team goes to St. Louis then we shall no doubt attend roboprom this year too.

Don't lose hope! ha but yes, if you're a FIRST kid, you're a RoboProm kid.

I remember hearing about this last year...is this like just a casual thing or do you dress up? can anyone like explain it a little more?

There is NO dress code, but the attire for the prom is usually semi-formal. Girls wear dresses and the boys wear black pants and collared shirts (or something of the sort).

It certainly isn't as formal as normal prom, but people really don't tend to wear jeans.

If you have any more questions just ask :)

Last year our team didn't attend Championships, but my teammate and I volunteered and went to roboprom and had a lot of fun. This year our whole team will be attending. Thanks. Can't wait for next years!
Good luck with the planning!
