From the IRI website:
Quote:

Saturday, July 23, 2011

7:30 AM Doors Open
8:00 AM Opening Ceremonies / Awards
8:30 AM Matches Begin
Noon Matches End
12:15 PM Alliance Selection
12:30 PM Mentor Tournament
1:45 PM Eliminations Begin
4:00 PM Eliminations End / Awards
7:00 PM Field is packed, event is over
Is this a typo, or will there really be a mentor tournament this year? If so, I know of two of our mentors that might be interested... :)

There will be a mentor competition, but it will not be with team robots.

More details to follow.

mentor races? Each mentor starts with a minibot in their hands and in their lanes. They must cross the field (past an opposing mentor) and deploy their minibot on to the pole. The third mentors start back to back in the center and attempt to stop the other alliance from scoring. Full contact.

I would so do this.

Well it is Indiana and knowing Hoosiers, I would brush up on my cornhole skills.

As a mentor I try to think things through before acting. Let's try thinking it through here:

No problem, our minibot snaps on the pole and you pull the pin/lanyard and off it goes.

Ok, need to dodge an opposing mentor on a 50/50 chance basis.

Thinking JVN. Running full tilt for me. "Full Contact". Not happening. Sooo not happening.

But I will be happy to be in the sidelines cheering you on and groaning when you get flattened.

Or Copioli. Or Big Mike.

Thinking back to 2004 Dean Simmons and the Kamens' IRI mosh pit (shhh those aren't allowed any more).

How does one go about donating something to the silent auction? Team 1114 has something relatively special we're thinking of donating. Hopefully it can raise some decent money for the IRI charities.

Are you taking pre-bids? If so I got $50 down for the "spend a evening with karthik" auction

I checked the website but didn't find any info on how to submit a donation. Maybe I overlooked it. In the past, I've sent Chris Fultz a private message and that has done the trick.

Whatever 1114 donates will be awesome - I hope it brings lots of money to the charities selected.

Jane
