Ridiculous, yes! But fun none the less!

if some people figure it out how is it ridiculous?

I'd rather that the teams who applied for the NASA grant - learn about their status, first. It is apparent from the thread in CD that there are teams who would love to have the grant and would like to know where they stand.

Then - all heck can break loose with the wishingwishingwishing for the hint as far as I'm concerned. Perhaps those who are so inclined - could write a poem or carol requesting one. That passes the time nicely. Well, at least 5 minutes worth. And they would put a positive spin on the chest-beating, nagging, and complaining.

If they do show us robot components (such as 2008's IR board), I'm sure that they would be new. Showing us something that we already have (cRio) or something incredibly vague (say, a black and red wire hooked up to visible battery terminals), you lose the point and the fun of the hint.

I'd like to see a hint next week, personally. There's no way to really guess; it's been pretty random for the past few years.

I am heavily excited for the hint. It is always something that is almost useless to guessing (2010's ball return holder). But still, the hints pass the time and excitement until the game is released!

However, Aidan Browne wanted me to tell you we’re seriously looking at Ben & Jerry’s Phish food.

Hint, anyone?

Phish food = water game :)

The GDC needs to decide on ONE kind of ice cream that they like. I can't afford both Haagen-Dazs AND Ben and Jerry's...we all know that the secret to the game is hidden in one of the cartons.

Disregard the fish in the Phish Food and look for other objects. There is marshmallows which are cylinders. ;)

Doubt it though...

Any bets on how quickly the Game Hint #1 thread will explode?
I say 500 posts within 3 days.

I think that there will be 1000. 75% of those posts will be people in this thread.

only 500 in 3 days?

I suspect there will be 1000 in less than 24 hours ... and 4-5 crashed websites as well :ahh:

I'm pushing for 1500 within 3 days, with 1000 in 36 hours, depending on what hour the hint comes out. I dont know about the websites crashing but Google will have a spike in FRC related searches. But we need to start caroling nonetheless ;)

We've crashed a couple of websites before. Opah, anyone? (2008 hint #2--any website it was found on went down quickly.)

1500 is really ambitious. Search "game hint" (yes - contrary to popular belief the search function actually exists!) and have it search thread titles only, and display results as threads...last year, it did take us about three days to reach 500 posts. The funny thing is, when the hint comes out, lots of people have the same exact ideas. After a few days, if you've kept up with all of the posts, ideas repeat themselves because other people didn't read the 10 pages that already exists...and discussions die down as soon as the next hint comes out.

I thought that the Opah was the first hint for the 2009 game (being posted in late 2008)...the riddle was the second hint.
