Anyone notice that he LOV with no E

You need three lines to turn LOV into a triangle and a square

So I guess FIRST is not "dope" enough for Will.i.am to wear his hat like he said he would. I did not see or hear any promotion.

although i'm disappointed he didn't wear the hat, it's not like people would've noticed what the hat said/meant. i think he did his best to give FIRST a shout out.

Actually, I think he did as much of a subtle shout out as he could.

halftime show

I am appalled by the behavior of the FIRST people on this thread. Everyone is putting down someone for not making a pitch for us. We are supposed to making our own pitches, not relying on someone famous to make them for us. Think before you post please!!!

As for the references to FIRST, someone mentioned the logo scrolling on his helmet. I have DVR and went back to the performance and watched closely. Right after the performance of "Where Is The Love?", Will.I.Am started singing "I had the time of my life..." and I saw, what looked like anyways, an interlocking white circle and blue square. I can't confirm if that is what was really there, but I ran it through 3 times and that is just what I saw. As for any other references, besides the changed lyrics and saying "First things first", I think were coincidences.

THIS THIS THIS.
Where is everyone's graciousness?

Please note that there was no guarantee. will.i.am did what he could to help us out. If anything, it feels cool to me just to know that he was thinking of us.

You need to listen to the lyrics to Where Is The Love as they were sung during the halftime performance. They were modified to talk about education, innovators and FIRST things FIRST.

If anyone were to notice and ask him about that, it would be the perfect time for him to talk about STEM and about FIRST. Black-Eyed Peas planted some seeds. The opportunity was presented.

at 0.44 seconds, you might see a complete logo on his head

I thought that was a really cool shout out to the FIRST community. It was about as obvious as you can get for it being done during the Super Bowl halftime show.

Who cares that he didn't wear the hat? They aren't exactly the most stylish things.

I agree - Don't get caught up in feeling like Will.I.Am or the Peas are worth this much expectation or disappointment.

No big whup - either way.

For example - I attended the U of Ky alongside an NCAA Championship Basketball Championship team. I walked past their private dorm every day on my way to and from Anderson Hall. I noticed that so, so many people across the campus state and the country let themselves think their fortunes rose and fell with the suceesses and failures of that collection of "students" who could bounce and throw a ball well. Those folks even bought into the ridiculous notion that somehow the team was "their" team.

But did the state get excited about the College of Engineering that really did/does belong to the state taxpayers? Did anyone suggest a pep rally before Finals week? Did anyone notice that the health of the state's industrial base and economy could be strengthened more by engineers and scientists than by basketballs? Did anyone suggest that it would be nice to put our 30 smartest students into a nicely appointed private dorm, give them tutors, etc?

Well, in a word "No".

I personally alteranate between being amused and tired by hearing about what Willie might or might not do. I DO look forward to hearing more about what he does; but I grow a bit tired of breathless speculation about what he might do, and I am really perplexed at the level of disappointment when some of the guesses are wrong.

I admit it's been amusing to watch folks spin up and down, but I think I'll go back to taking care of the business in front of me. I'm sure Ms/Mrs Kamen and Will.I.Am will let me know when it's time to help them get something done.

Ask yourself where your path to success lies, and what you intend to celebrate as you work to change the culture. Ask yourself who is cheering for you. Give them your attention.

Blake
PS: I'm glad Will.I.Am has committed to support FIRST; and, I'm not immune to the glamour of his sort of celebrity. But - I have a job to do and while I am glad for his help; I'm certainly not waiting for him to do that job for me.

Here are the lyrics to Where Is The Love?

I am disappointed, not that will.i.am didn’t wear the FIRST hat, but the lack of Gracious Professionalism shown on Chiefdelphi.

I think for me, I knew he wasn't going to wear the hat.

However, the splash page made me think that there might be more. The fact First desgined that page to be ment for High Trafic without crashing the rest of the site prepared me for something big, and well instead we got the subtle hints.

Thanks to will.I.am still for pretty much making the show about FIRST, and still honhoring his contracts!

Those are not the words he used though... there was a definite change.

I agree with you about poor behavior. I'm very glad he DIDN'T mention FIRST by name now, because all visitors would see if they looked deep enough into the FIRST culture would be this horrible pool of negativity. Where's our Gracious Professionalism, guys?
