Can you find me a picture of the Super Bowl XLV logo in Red,White and Blue?
Oh, and it's written with the "L" cutting through both the "X" and the "V"?

As skeptical as I was, i'm sure it was indeed the logo. I mean come on.. http://tinyurl.com/6fjt3am

I think it's cool that it was there, and I agree with whats been said, i'm happy it wasn't a blatant endorsement.

A nice little mention of "the science and engineering" that goes into that kind of a show.

No matter how much I look at the pictures, that is definitely a white circle, which is not an L.

I don't know, personally I think that people were already biased toward thinking that it would be/wouldn't be the logo, so they're making themselves believe that it was/wasn't.

That said, it doesn't seem like the logo to me. Too long and angled.

Re: Superbowl + will.i.am + FRC hat

I watched the Super Bowl just to see the half time show. I didn't see the FIRST logo, and the pictures I have seen of it aren't the greatest. Yes, there are red, white and blue shapes on Will.I.Am's helmet - but they don't look like the FIRST logo to me, and if they don't look like the logo to someone who knows what they are looking for, then they sure won't look like the logo to some random person.

I did like how he re-wrote the lyrics to "where is the love" to talk about innovation and education, but it seemed more directed to Obama and his State of the Union speech.

People need to realize that dedicating 4-6 lines of song lyrics to what FIRST stands for means a whole lot more, and does a whole lot more for FIRST than him wearing a logo which nobody knows what it stands for.

Saying that people need to be educated and innovators will lead the way is a more powerful message than a triangle, circle, and square.

I am certain the intention of the logo on the helmet wasn't for the average viewer to see it and then go research "what it means". I'm willing to bet Will.I.Am simply did that as a subtle shoutout to all of the FIRSTers who watched kickoff. It's nothing more than a tip of the cap to FIRST and an "inside joke".

The real message was the lyric change, which was nice. This wasn't designed to change the world or bring FIRST into every living room, it was simply a small spin on a mainstream act to get part of a message out.

Either way, thanks to Will.I.Am for doing it, and let's all move on.

I have to commend Will.i.am for doing what he did do, he went beyond FIRST as a robotics competition and instead left a message to the world about innovating and changing the world and he included FIRST in a subtle way.

From what I can tell his helmet did show the FIRST logo every so often and I find that cool as he used some nice technology to do that with the helmet.

here are some screenshots from the 1080i stream of the superbowl

I think anyone who has been hating on him and this performance should apologize or it makes us look bad as a community and counteract what will.i.am did do.

while it would have been nice if he had used the hat dean gave him I think this is actually better based on his outfit

will.i.am did his best to fit us into an insanely tight schedule.

I think he did a wonderful job.

People, think carefully before you post.

We can find every single little detail in a game hint photo, but many of us missed the FIRST logo scrolling across his helmet every few seconds. Isn't that funny.

My favorite part was when Brandon came up from the stage and played Sweet Child O' Mine.

Re: Superbowl + will.i.am + FRC hat

First of all, I don't care whether or not will.i.am wore something FIRST related on tv or not, he is not obligated to. I was happy to hear his lyric change, not that he did it for FIRST, but I feel it shows some of will.i.am's beliefs do in fact align with those of FIRST and the partnership/relationship between will.i.am and FIRST might be genuine and not superficial like some may have originally thought from the kickoff.

I definitely doubted the initial pictures claiming to be the FIRST logo on his helmet, but I wan't looking at it properly, it isn't the entire logo, only the top of it. I am absolutely convinced that we are seeing the FIRST logo in this picture, but I am not convinced the photo is genuine, I sure hope the first logo was not added in by someone with sick photoshop skills. I have photoshopped my own picture showing the FIRST logo superimposed onto the will.i.am photo so you can see where the logo is exactly as I am sure skeptics just can't see it. As I said, I did not see it for the longest time and thought people were crazy for thinking they saw it.

I can't believe I wasted time photoshopping that photo, now let's move on and build some robots and forget about will.i.am

Re: Superbowl + will.i.am + FRC hat

Given the circumstances, I think he gave a great shout out to first with shouting "FIRST things FIRST" and changing the lyrics of where is the love and having the logo scrolling on the side of his head. For all of those who actually expected him to wear the hat, he couldn't anyway because performers at the halftime show aren't even allowed to wear any articles of clothing that promote anything besides themselves. The halftime show committee doesn't want it to be free advertising for someone, so he really had no option to wear the hat.

Re: Superbowl + will.i.am + FRC hat

I find it kind of funny, as I read this thread the lyrics, "you're so vain, you probably think this song is about you.", are running through my head.

It seems slightly possible he may have had a FIRST logo on his helmet. I however highly doubt the lyric change was made for FIRST. Instead it was probably addressed to Obama and the government, seeing as how the lyric change mentions Obama, not FIRST.

Will I am also had a job to entertain people, which he fulfilled by singing and dancing. He should not have felt at all obligated to mention FIRST, as it is our job to advertise ourselves.
