<G67> The RACE SCORE is assigned to each ALLIANCE based on the place of finish in the MINBOT RACE (ties each receive the points for that place)

if every field element performs optimally, then there will be no ties. I assume we're assuming since no tubes will break, the sensors will do their jobs, and everything else goes smoothly?

Though to be absolutely technical, yes, you could potentially get 168.

Does anything ever go smoothly at a regional? haha

I'm speculating that Murphy will rule at least one match, resulting in a four-way tie for first. 30 points each for the climbs that reach the top but not timed.

I highly doubt there will be a tie. Too many variables to ensure that your two mini-bots will hit at the very exact same time. That is, unless if a bot was able to hit the top .1 second slower then first also is given first, then it might be different.

Let's say, just for fun, that your alliance has 3 ubertubes on the top row of one station, covered by a circle and square in their respective spots. There's 12 seconds left in the match. Do you place the triangle or deploy the minibot (your robot design and placement on the field don't allow for both to occur in this timeframe)?

*Speculation*

If you place the triangle you get

a. 6 points for the traingle over an uber tube
b. 18 points as double because of the logo

If you go for the minibot you will get 30, 20, 15 or 10.

At first glance, the only way the minibot wins out is if you get the 30.

But look again, if you go for the minibot you will take 10 possible points away from the other alliance.

I would go for the minibot.

Beginning of the regional, I would go for the minibot if you believe you have a chance at 1st or 2nd place in the race. It allows your drivers to get used to placing it under pressure, shows off your capabilities and is a small gamble.

After each team has played 2 or 3 matches this answer should come from scouting data. You should have at least some idea how your minibot stacks up against your opponents and that will dictate which choice to make.

I'd want to know how good each team's mini-bot is.

If our alliance couldn't pull off first or second, I'm going tube. If I felt we could at least grab 2nd and 3rd, I'm going Minibot.

If it's a qualifying match, Mini-bot regardless. No reason not to show off that you have a mini-bot that can keep up with the others. However if the mini-bot is terrible and will get 4th or not even finish, might want to go for the tube.

Re: Max Score Speculation

Scouting mini-bots will have an added twist, to say the least, because teams are allowed (and enticed by Coopertition Points) to lend out their minibots. If teams succeed in establishing some universality for minibot deployment, as other CD threads are calling for, then you may not know which minibots you're facing, regardless of which team's hostbot you're facing, until you're practically on queue for your match.
