2011 FisherPrice Motor

It has them listed along with their gear boxes in the KOP BOM as not included. I cannot find anything about them in the game manual. Does these mean we cannot use them at all or if we can how many are we allowed?

well i dont know about how many are allowed i will have to look more into it but check and see if they are still being manufactured. If they are manufactured commonly and are not listed in the manual as not being used then you can use them from former years. Hope i helped if you need help message me or ask on here

in rule R48 in the robot section it mentions using fisherprice motors so i am assuming that you can use them

It says on the bottom of page 12 of the checklist posted on the kit of parts website that the kit has one. Therefore, one (and only one) would be legal.

What document are you referring to? I haven't been near the KoP at all, so please pardon my ignorance in case something has changed.

But of course they are in there.

We had 3 pages of "not included" parts - all of which were in fact included. Maybe we messed this up printing the XLS file?

Re: 2011 FisherPrice Motor

I am not sure what is up with the xlsx file and all the non included ones, we just disregarded it.

For the official (as far as I know) one http://team2502.com/uploads/rules/2011KOPChecklist.pdf

I also had an issue. The manual doesn't explicitly state how many fisher price motors and how many window motors we are allowed to use. I know it says that only motors in the kit of parts are allowed but that may refer to the the model, type and brand rather than the quantity. I guess I'll ask as soon as q&a opens up.

Re: 2011 FisherPrice Motor

<R45> Motors specifically permitted on 2011 FRC ROBOTS include:
A. all motors, actuators, and servos listed in the 2011 KOP Checklist,
C. one or two additional 2½” CIM motors (part #FR801-001 and/or M4-R0062-12) in addition to those provided in the KOP. This means that up to four, and no more, 2½” CIM motors can be used on the ROBOT,
D. up to four, in any combination, of the BaneBots motors provided in the KOP (RS-775, RS-550, RS-540, RS-395),

Pretty simple,
The only extra motors allowed are 2 additional CIM's. That means if you have 1 FP and 4 window motors in the kit, then that's all you can use.
The only other option is the mix and match of the 4 BB motors.

Re: 2011 FisherPrice Motor

There is one FP motor in the kit and the white paper specs are also listed in the motor specs provided in the FIRST documentation area (depending on if you are using a 2010 or 2011 FP motor specs are different)

So does this mean I couldn't use http://www.andymark.com/ProductDetai...ctCode=am-0586
because we are only allowed one FP motor?

Pretty much unless you only want to connect one motor to it

Re: 2011 FisherPrice Motor

Darn, I was looking forward to using that.

There's always the CIM-u-lator though.

If I attach a Banebots motor to a FP gearbox, can I use more of the FP gearboxes? Our team has 5 FP gearboxes from previous years. Also, how do I utilize the FP gearbox's output? Where do I get the hub?

Re: 2011 FisherPrice Motor

I honestly think it is ambiguous if you can use more than one.

Quote:

<R45> Motors specifically permitted on 2011 FRC ROBOTS include:
A. all motors, actuators, and servos listed in the 2011 KOP Checklist,
B. [COTS motors <4W]
C. [CIM Motors]
D. up to four, in any combination, of the BaneBots motors provided in the KOP (RS-775, RS-550, RS-540, RS-395),

Example combinations include, but are not limited to,
- four RS-775s,
- one of each motor
- two RS-775s and two RS-550s,
- three RS-540s and one RS-395.

E. [SPARE PARTS]
F. [fan motors]

I think the wording is interesting. In part D, they use "provided" to mean that 1 motor was included in the KOP, therefore you can buy additional motors of the same type.

In part A, they use the word "listed" instead. To me, this seems as though you can use parts in any quantity as long as they were initially part of the KOP. However, you could argue that this also implies "in the quantity listed," which would really be limiting.

To be honest, the word choice is confusing. The word choice in part D would have seemed more limiting if it weren't for the clarifying box afterwards. I think someone needs to ask the GDC.

Re: 2011 FisherPrice Motor

I'm not convinced that only a single Fisher Price motor may be used. The KOP does list that motor. The KOP also lists the CIM motors. The rules explicitly state you can't have more than four CIM motors. The implication is there that you 'could' have as many CIM motors as you desired were it not for the explicit rule against it. There is no such stipulation for the Fisher Price motor.

It boils down to, "I don't know". It sure would be nice to have that clarified early in the build season.

Which gearbox are you referring to?

If we assume that you're talking about the Fisher Price planetary gearbox AndyMark sells, then you have a 3/8" keyed output shaft. This and the mounting pattern allows you to use the motor just about anywhere you can use a CIM.

AndyMark sells this hub which will let you use that output.

I mean the plastic gearboxes. Like you would find in a Power-Wheels toy.
