First updated the main-site to include instructions on how to image your classmate without the 5Gb recovery partition on kop page.

To answer the questions and end this. What you need to do is go to this link (http://www.usfirst.org/roboticsprogr....aspx?id=18530) then scroll down to control system.

Instructions
1.Plug the reimage disk (USB) into a computer (not classmate) and backup the files somewhere

2. Open up the USB folder and rename "AUTOINSTALL.CMD" to "AUTOINSTALL.CMD.BAK" and "DISKPARTSCRIPT.TXT" to "DISKPARTSCRIPT.TXT.BAK"

3. Then download the "Updated Classmate Installation Files" from that link and copy those files to the reimage disk (USB).

4. Run the reimage disk on the classmate (plug it in then hit F11)

5. Delete the user account that you created in the wizard (you only want Driver and Developer accounts)

6. Run the "Classmate Update" file on the classmate then restart the classmate. (this activates windows)

7. Download the trial version of PowerISO and make an .iso image of the LabView CD.

8. Run this .iso on the classmate

Now you have an activated Version of Windows 7 with LabView on your classmate and everything is all good.

Does labview need to be on the Netbook? and is there another way to activate the Windows 7 other than using the ISO for labview etc.?

Only the Driver Station update and just the FRC 2011 Tools & cRIO Drivers from the LabVIEW DVD need to be on the Classmate if you don't use the KOP stick.

What ISO for LabVIEW?
LabVIEW only comes on a DVD.

I'm sorry, I misread the post talking about putting Labview on the Classmate. Thanks for the response though.

No problem.
I just wanted to be sure we were talking about the same things.

You can easily rip the LabVIEW DVD and create an ISO file, which you could transfer via USB to the classmate, mount the ISO, and install LabVIEW.

Although my team scratched the classmate, we has a similar problem with the netbook we are using to replace the classmate. However, one of our mentors who is good with networking helped us out in a creative way. We got two ethernet cables, a router, and another laptop which had a CD drive (doesn't have to be a laptop). We wired both laptops to the router via the ethernet cables, and then reset the ethernet settings so they could communicate to the router. By connecting both laptops on the same network, we were able to "share" the DVD between both laptops via the ethernet connection.

Whatever method you choose, you will need all the contents of the LabVIEW DVD copied to the hard drive of the netbook/classmate in order to properly install it.
