Re: pic: Team 233 robot for 2k11
I've always wondered how the 233 telescope system works... now is as good a time as any I suppose:
Wer'e not particularly focused on a telescoping system for 2011, i'm just curious... :) |
Re: pic: Team 233 robot for 2k11
Well that wasn't so hard.
Can I borrow it? |
Re: pic: Team 233 robot for 2k11
Does it pick up the other two shapes as well as it picked up the tubes in 07? =)
|
Re: pic: Team 233 robot for 2k11
Slap on some bumpers, and I think you might have it.
|
Re: pic: Team 233 robot for 2k11
were the minibot going
|
Re: pic: Team 233 robot for 2k11
Haha, you actually think that'll make it to the finals of Einstein?? Good joke.
:) Much love for the 233 bots. |
Re: pic: Team 233 robot for 2k11
Is this a joke?

Re: pic: Team 233 robot for 2k11
XD Our '07 robot is almost entirely disassembled, so it looks like it's back to the drawing board :D

We are using ours as a counter-example!

Re: pic: Team 233 robot for 2k11
Honestly though. I wonder how many robots we see will be similar to this. I would lie if I said 1511 didn't look heavily into the engineering of this robot and create ideas based off of it. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Beautiful bot. Still.

Re: pic: Team 233 robot for 2k11
When they showed the playing pieces for this year in the video, I leaned over to our team's president and said "I bet some teams will just be modifying their 2007 'bots".

It was a very good robot. |
Re: pic: Team 233 robot for 2k11
our 2007 robot consistently caught fire after 1-2 min of game-play. we have a very funny video of someone on our team sprinting to kill it and cool down the smoking FP + corresponding victor before an official doused it with a fire extinguisher, suffice it to say we are starting over with our design.

Re: pic: Team 233 robot for 2k11
I wouldnt be surprised if they used the exact same design plus a provision for the minibot.
It already is able to grab game pieces with its arm over the bumpers. Many teams in '07 needed a gap in the bumpers for arms that started within the "sizing box" at the start of a match. We're one of them and have brainstormed several ways around it this year. |
Re: pic: Team 233 robot for 2k11
We used the 2007 game for our Mock Kick-off/Build Season training day with local teams. We also retrofitted an NI control system on our 2007 bot for Fall Training.
We keep telling the students we didn't have a mole, but they don't believe us. |
Re: pic: Team 233 robot for 2k11
Well, that was fast. :p
2007 bot, right? Nice slide rail extension. |
Re: pic: Team 233 robot for 2k11
Probably one of my top 5 favorite robots in my 4 years in FIRST.
I can't wait to see what Pink comes up with this year. :) |
Re: pic: Team 233 robot for 2k11
ahem *cough*
can anyone say hacks? |
Re: pic: Team 233 robot for 2k11
We spent a good bit of time, yesterday, reviewing the '07 Florida and Championship Finals videos. And, PINK's venerable and trustworthy arm has proven itself time and time again. Believe me, we've played some intense matches against them...arrrrggghhh! and with them <WOOT!>
Expect them to be optimized and tough to beat. ...able to carry an alliance. ...what to do...what to do! :ahh: Eric |
Re: pic: Team 233 robot for 2k11
I really really really wish we still had the big CIM so we could do something like this... ::sigh:: back to the engineering drawing board and running motor calculations!
|
Re: pic: Team 233 robot for 2k11
I saw the game animation and started cringing knowing that 233 is coming to the DC Regional. Heh.
That robot doesn't need a mini bot. It can put up all 6 logos by itself if another team can just feed the tubes to them. It was amazing to watch and play beside. |
Re: pic: Team 233 robot for 2k11
Sadly I don't think we can model ours off my teams 2007 robot as it was a bottom row scoring highly successful ramp bot
Also the fact that I am no longer up north but mentoring a team in the south... I don't see us having any hands on time with the robot in Pennsylvania not in Louisiana where I am stationed and mentoring lol |
Re: pic: Team 233 robot for 2k11
We also were looking at a number of successful '07 bots (including Pinks!).
My question seems kid of obvious, but... Why Not? What changes would be required on a well performing ring-placer from '07: - Bumpers - Control System Upgrade to cRIO - Maybe minibot (probably) - Autonomous Sensors I know that no one is really just going to recycle their '07 bot right :) but as designs get stabilized, this makes a good engineering discussion. Is this bot too big; can it make it inside the 60" cylinder during operation or get down to the 5' height and within the frame for starting configuration? Can it reach to about 9.5 feet and place a tube? Can it handle the different sized tubes well? I am interested from a design standpoint. Thanks! |
Re: pic: Team 233 robot for 2k11
We will be using the same arm mechanism from 07, though adding some tweaks to make it easier to use for this year.
|
Re: pic: Team 233 robot for 2k11
I knew I should have kept your telescoping arm while I had the chance. =(
