Re: Robot names?

This year the students decided to name the robot after a mentor, the robot's name is Bob-O-Matic. The mini bot's name is Mini Kraken.

Re: Robot Name?

1075's robots have always been named "Sprocket <number>"

2003 edubot: Sprocket 1 - I believe this one is still in our shop
2003 FRCbot: Sprocket 2 - cannibalized for parts in the 2004 season, reconstructed summer 2004, recannibalized for parts in the 2007 season, I believe frame and drivetrain is still intact, perhaps sans-motors.
2004 competition FRCbot: Sprocket 3 - cannibalized for parts in the 2007-2009 seasons, was used for competition testing of 2006-2008 robots, I believe the frame, drivesystem, and arm remain, but without actuators.
2004 practice drivebase: Sprocket 4 - steelframed chassis to hold our 2004 drive system so that we could code autonomous while Sprocket 3 was in the crate. Frame remains in our shop, but the functional parts were used on Sprocket 3 in competition
2006 FRCbot: Sprocket 5 - completely disassembled. you can find some component systems (swerve modules, ball launcher) lying about our shop, but the frame is long gone, cut up, and re-used into later bots.
2007 FRCbot: Sprocket 6 - I believe this robot is still mostly intact, though it may currently be without drive units. The drive units on Sprockets 5,6,7, and 9 were interchangeable.
2008 competition FRCbot: Sprocket 7 - Completely dismantled, I haven't seen ANYTHING still around the shop that belonged to this robot.
2008-Present Robotic Cart: Sprocket 8 - Still in use, has been upgraded to run a split voltage (12/24V) system using Black Jags to run its drive wheels.
2008 offseason FRCbot: Sprocket 9 (yeah, we did a complete rebuild, it was that bad) - 100% intact. Has been used for competition testing of 2009-2011 robots.
2009 FRCbot: Sprocket 10 - All systems intact, except electrical. cRIO and speed controllers stolen for Sprockets 11-14
2010 practice FRCbot: Sprocket 11 - I haven't seen it for a while, but I believe its still semi-intact. Pieces were stolen to fix Sprocket 12 in the offseason. Probably missing alot of the electrical system to feed Sprockets 13 and 14.
2010 competition FRCbot: Sprocket 12 - 100% intact, used for competition testing Sprocket 14
2011 mecanum drivebase: Sprocket 13 - intact, but I think the electrical board is in Sprocket 14.
2011 competition FRCbot: Sprocket 14 - In the bag, waiting patiently for Waterloo in a couple weeks.

8 years, 14 robots, many of which don't exist anymore.

2056's 2011 entry is named "Unfinished Business"

My guess is that this is an allusion to their 4 losses at Championship with multiple regional winning robots, most recently their 2010 robot, carrying them to elimination in the semi-finals on Einstein.

So far, Unfinished Business is off to an excellent start, winning FLR with 217 and 1518. As far as I understand it, 2011 marks a new era for 2056's drive team. Their drive team has consisted of the same people since 2007, who are now no longer highschool students, and therefore ineligible.

Re: Robot names?

We finally came to an agreement about the name last week at GSR. This year's robot from the Robobees is "The Pollenator" and the mini-bot is "Sting."

Next week, our "home" regional, the Chesapeake Regional! We are excited to bring the Robobee's 10th season robot to the Baltimore Convention Center!

Go Bees!

Re: Robot names?

2009: Ganymede - Cup bearer to the gods in Greek mythology. Also the largest of jupiters moons, the largest moon in the solarsystem.

2010: Cerberus - Guardian of the Underworld in Greek mythology. Multiheaded dog whom guards the doorway between the land of the living and dead.

2011: Hermes - Messenger of the gods in Greek mythology. Hermes the swift footed thief whom brought fire from the gods to man.
2011 Minibot: Evil Crouton - An anagram of Crevolution, minibots are evil for being such a pain and yet so simple. "ta mere est une baguette"

Re: Robot names?

Our inaugural robot is named I.A.H.

Insert
Acronym
Here.

A meta-joke made by Forrest against all of our other names, and other team's names.

I was going to vote for either "Jag Slayer" or "Time Bandit", as they both have deep meanings. Time Bandit, because our robot is the deadliest catch and stole our freetime, Jag because of out triple-kill on jaguars early on.

2009: Apollo - Moon themed name for Lunacy

2007: Johnny 5 - Our gripper looked like the robot from Short Circuit.

2011- The Narwhal, so named because of the "horn" scooping device used to pick up tubes.

Last year we named it Burn Bot because our school TV program did a Halloween episode where our robotics team "created" burn-bot, a robot which made witty comments and made fun of everyone in the school...until it walked so far away from our lab it pulled the power cord out of the socket and died.

This year, we have no idea what we're going to call it, but inspiration will come eventually. :)

Ice CueBie. A lot of people on our team wanted to name it Frozen Fjord (including me) but Ice Cuebie won. We named our practice bot Frozen Fjord instead though.
