Unplugable controller?

Would it be possible to have an unplugged custom control behind the game lines during autonomous then have it be plugged in as soon as driver control started?

Do you mean the driver box lines? If you do, why not just add the custom control box to your DS board?

However this rule "<G14> Any control devices worn or held by the DRIVERS must be disconnected from the OPERATOR CONSOLE, and not connected until after the AUTONOMOUS PERIOD." allows you to plug it in after operator control has started.

I wouldn't recommend doing that because the Classmate may not pick up the controller unless it is restarted. My team has had this problem before where a joystick would come out and when we plugged it back in, the PC didn't recognize it until we restarted it.

In any case, USB takes some time to recognize and manage a newly connected device. Is it wise to wait 15 seconds after teleop begins to be able to control your robot?

If the custom controller box connects to the Cypress PSoC, you won't have any USB reconnection delay to worry about when it gets plugged in.
