Looks great, any idea your team decided to go with a claw design?

They decided to go with a claw design, because it is easy to build and operate. And also it is very light compared to other mechanisms.

What type of mechanism will you use to get that downward motion of the arm without rotating it? This motion is exhibted by the student holding the arm in the first few seconds of the video.

Re: 1671 Prototype Arm

Actually I was holding the claw the students hooked it up the night before, I just didn't get to see it then. They currently have a multi-stage articulating arm to achieve that nice approach angle. The CAD team was able to get the entire robot done last night, and we are currently fabricating the bot.
