CAN on a budget

after my experiences working on getting can to work on my team in the last few months, i decided to make a .pdf on how to make CAN work this year without killing the piggy bank.

I attached it.

Thank You for this, I was just researching the best way to go about using the CAN bus. Might I suggest you post this to the whitepapers as well.

Nice paper.

One point of fact that you may want to look into, there are more than 2 FIRST 'Legal' options for CAN. A team could also make their own gateway device using either Ethernet or serial.

Good job.

Good job.

I was not aware of that. I will research it further.

It has been added as a white paper and i have updated it (attached). It also has a section on how to use a junk serial cable to make the serial adapter (essentially how i made the 2009 KOP cable to work in the first place).

Edit- yes, you can make your own adapter. good call. updated file attached.
