This year's game seems to be almost as clear-cut in terms of strategy as compared to last year:

"If you don't stop us, we outscore you like crazy and win a bazillion to nothing. If you do stop us, then we stop you, too, and then win on the endgame anyway."

The difference is in the scoring, of course, and I think this strategy is a bit harder to implement with how the game is set up.

I disagree.

I don't disagree that ground pickup will be important, but I think it might be a bit overhyped. I feel like teams will "fumble" tubes near their human loader, and near their scoring rack. 2 locations where you can't get to them anyway.

The single biggest advantage to ground pickup is scoring the tubes your alliance partner fumbles in your scoring zone.

I'm not surprised... :)

Ask two different FIRSTers for an opinion, get three different answers!

I think the biggest advantage to ground pick up is when you fumble a tube in your scoring zone. There will be fumbled tubes. If you can quickly pick a tube up from the floor, you will save a lot of time over running back to the feeder and coming back to the scoring zone. In addition, too many dropped tubes could start to get in your way when you are trying to score.
