Is there a way to get this model moving with keyframes?

Check the "Where is the iiko model?" thread.

At last! I did it!

1. Select one of the bones.
2. Click the 'Motion' Tab.
3. Expand the 'Layer Manager' rollout.
4. Click and hold the 'Add Layer' button (next to the 'X' button).
5. Point to the first option and release, a new 'Animation Layer' is added.
6. Click the 'Setup/Animation Mode Toggle' button.
7. Start creating keyframes for the spline helpers (like 'CTRL_Head').

We are having the same problem.. Buddyb309 showed up at our bot shop today.. He is going to modify the rig so we can work with the keyframes.. When he is done, we will upload for everyone to use.

That would be great! We have been dealing with it so far, but it would be great if we could animate it without having to go onto the motion toolbar.

Thanks again! :D

WE had the same problem but as the solution is already posted, I won't. I wonder why they made it so you have to do all that.

Its because its Autodesk CAT
There are 3 bones systems in 3Ds Max..CAT, Bones System, and Biped
CAT's an old one, but very versatile
You can also use CAT Mocap to map your CAT bones to biped mocaps.
Its quite cool actually

I was messing around with the kick mocap, it was pretty awesome to watch.

It's an object you can use to easily animate characters.

Yeah i wasn't really acquainted with CAT before this, but it actually seems pretty useful and fast.
No fumbling with biped stretches and random stuff
and no incorrect alignment with bones or its lack of presets

but then again
the hard part is skinning
