jaguar motor brown and black

is it possible to use both the new and black motor controllers together?
i tried running my code and the old brown motor controllers worked no problem but the new Texas instrument black jaguars wouldn't work they just turned red. any ideas?

They should work together just fine if you are using PWM, but if your using CAN then you need to update the firmware on the Black ones.

What method are you using?

Do you instantly go full force on a loaded CIM?

That could cause the Jaguar to start flashing red from too much current being drawn.

Was it a slow flashing red, fast flashing red, or a solid red? You can use the working Jaguar to see an example of flashing fast; just command it to go at some speed less than full in reverse.

If using CAN you must update the firmware on both Gray/Tan and Black Jaguars.

if you are using the CAN bus a blcak one needs to be at the start of the chain. the other Jaguars can be tan or black, but they all need to be updated.

I am having the same problem, I am using labview, and the brown (old) jaguars work fine, but the new black jaguars are no doing anything (and yes they do have status lights);

If it's a solid red light, the ONLY problem possible is the motors are not connected or stalling (or similar things AFTER the jaguar). A red light means that the white M+ screw is connected to ground and the green M- screw is connected to 12V. Note that if you connected the CIM's red wire to M+, the motor will be spinning backwards from what happens when you connect the red wire to 12V. Check that.

NOTE: I may be wrong if the firmware isn't up-to-date or something like that, I only know the codes for use in normal operation. It shouldn't change though, as far as I know. But check your wiring and try wiring up a freespinning motor.
