Bill of Material 2011

Where is the bill of materials template? According to the manual, it is at http://www.usfirst.org/frc/competitionmanual Do you think it is just not posted yet or is the link wrong?

I would imagine that nothing would have change concerning the BOM. I would write as normal and change it should a new template appear.

There is already a thread fro this and last year they did not post the new template until the 4th week late.

They do have it here. It is under Section 4. You have to go through the Excel tabs at the bottom to see the "tabs" that they mention in the instructions.

Thank you all. Sorry, I didn't see the other thread and it must not have been posted yet when I posted this.

Last year there was some direction somewhere about naming convention for the BOM file; it must have been FRCXXXX(team number)_(Event Location).xls, since ours was named FRC2973_Westwego.xls for the Bayou Regional. I can't find the directions from last year and I don't see them anywhere this year. Can someone point me towards it?

Gary,
So far no specific naming convention has been mentioned in the manual. I'm hoping one of the next few updates will add it back in.

I'm hoping that FIRST publishes an example of what they expect. Perhaps one from an exemplary 2010 team...

Many teams have many ideas as to what a BOM should look like. This is particularly true of teams without engineering support.

JMHO...

I like that they put the KOP in for us, but hate that they parted out the Cimple gearbox, although it is a slight advantage if there are common parts

I bet a significant number of teams will be using those 12t pinions and 56t output gears in interesting places this year.

Re: Bill of Material 2011

Does anybody know what to do about items that are in the KOP but are not on the sheet "KOP Items" in the Bill of Materials. Should they not be listed anywhere, or should they go under the "Non-KOP Items" sheet with source being KOP and price of $0.00?

Also, does anybody know whether washers and e-clips get counted in the BOM?

For the additional KOP items, I would add them to the KOP sheet based on their desire to track the use of items supplied in the KOP.

Washers & e-clips should be considered fasteners with a value of <$1 and do not need to be included.

For items that we used from the kit and additional ones, how should they be listed? i.e. Cim motors.

I would list the KOP quantity on the KOP Items worksheet, then copy the description to the Non-KOP worksheet with the additional quantities and cost

Ok, we use 4 CIMs. WE got 2 in the Kit thus in the KOP section you say you used those 2. For the additional 2 you have to cost them in the subsystem (drive system) on the other part of the BOM. Does that make sense?
