Team 3637's FIRST (pun) minibot attempt

Hey, this is our first minibot design, we know, its a little big, but we did shrink it from this and it works just the same:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X73fSbqr6rg

It's good to see that somebody is using this design. We had thought of using this design, but eliminated it due to none of us having any ideas on how to deploy it. Do you guys know how you're going to deploy it?

We are going to mount it so the wheels on it run parallel to the edge of our big robot and will use a pneumatic cylinder to extend it to the pole. It will be released so the heavy side is released first so it rotates onto the beam and then the lighter side will be released and it will head up.

That or we will just have it mounted on the pneumatic cylinder already at a slight angle so we can just drop it on the pole and it will head up.

Haha I know right? I laugh everytime I watch my own minibot's motor burning. It turns out it was fine but in the process of getting it turned off we ripped off both of the leads on the motor (whoops). We melted the plastic around the leads in the motor with a soldering iron and soldered on wires. I doubt its competition legal now, but atleast its a working prototype motor.

I would be surprised if performance was unaffected by this. The tetrix motors are actually easy to not destroy if you take precautions to protect them, such as limiting how much you gear them up.

Yeah the performance is uneffected, but I'm not sure if it would pass inspection.
