Tetrix motor tab broken

In the process of trying to un-solder the connecting wire from the motor, one of the motor tabs broke off. Is there any possible way to fix this?

Not sure if its competition legal, but we took a soldering iron and melted the plastic around were the tab was and soldered on wires to the metal tab that was exposed.

This is pretty risky as there are electrical parts on the inside of the tab you are soldering.

Well considering you already can't use the motor because the tabs are broken off there is no reason not to try. Additionally you only have to melt through a tiny bit of plastic so you can get a bit of solder on there. Its not like you are holding the soldering iron there for 30 seconds, its more of a just a touch and the plastic around it melts away enough to get solder to stick.
