How do they know whos minibot it is?

How would you go about telling the refs whos minibot it is your deploying?

Do you tell the head ref or something before the match? Do you have the other teams number on the minibot?

I'm not quite sure what you mean by the refs knowing who's minibot it is. My guess is that all the teams would be putting their team number on their minibots. Also a ref would see your teams actual bot deploying the minibot so he/she should be able to distinguish that. But if you are loaning minibots out. You should make a portion of the bot so that all the teams could put their numbers on it.

Hope this helps.:D

Who deploys the Minibot doesn't matter as much as whose minibot it is. I would suggest that any team planning to build a minibot place their number on it in a rather conspicuous place.

so by just having the teams number on the side of the bot, and its deployed out of our bot, they/we/whoever gets the coopertition points will receive them? It seems like there has to be another way, I can see it being overlooked.

If the minibot doesn't have the team number of the team that deployed it, then the field people will know it is borrowed. Although not required (yet) it is highly recommended that you decorate your minibot with team numbers and sponsors, team colors even. Each minibot will receive an inspection sticker independent of the team that may have built it.

To comment on what Al suggested, we are planning on putting Numbers on the left and right sides of our mini-bot that are the same approximate dimensions of our bumper numbers. Numbers that large shouldn't be too difficult to fit onto the mini-bot (I'd imagine most teams should be able to fit 4" numbers somewhere) and they'll be clearly visible to both field personnel and scouts in the stands.

ha!

We were planning to put red and blue electrical tape "bumpers" depending on our alliance color and have our numbrs in same contrasting color that our host bot has on it.

weight nazi's say no way! If it doesn't make it go up the pole faster, it is not on the minibot.

we'd have a hard time getting 1 one four inch number on our minibot, even if you cut it up into little pieces and spread it all around the motor casings and battery pack.

Will probably engrave it into the aluminum because that doesn't add weight!

What are the dimensions of your mini bot? I know ours is at least 8" long, 4" wide and 4" deep so we wouldn't really have a problem putting numbers on it.

As far as it adding weight, if you can't spare the weight of two pieces of cardboard with some numbers on them, then you're probably doing it wrong. Also, you're going to want your mini bot to be clearly distinguishable as yours during the match, assuming that you're not planning on deploying it and sitting at the tower for the last ten seconds.

As for scoring, I doubt it even matters which of the 3 teams on an Alliance had their MINIBOTS climb. Given that HOSTBOTS cannot interfere with an opponent's TOWER during endgame, HOSTBOTS cannot DEPLOY to those towers. And since each alliance has 2 TOWERs in specific locations, it's easy to tell which alliance to award the points to.

Any team who borrows a MINIBOT from another non-FRC team would probably have been mentioned during the registration of that non-FRC team's MINIBOT. Thus, the coopertition points could be awarded via that channel.

As for borrowing MINIBOTs between FRC teams, I suppose we'll be told how to handle that at the Driver's Meetings.
