Calibrating Line Sensors
When we didn't calibrate the photoelectric sensors it was able to detect objects at a maximum of about 20 inches. After we calibrated the sensor to the gray pro-gaff tape it was only able to detect the tape from a maximum distance of 2 inches. Is anyone having the same result? Will this impose any future problems?

on the front of the sensor there is dial on the front. if you turn it far to one side to the other it goes to maximum setting (20 inches) and the other way is (2 inches )

Thank you for the reply. So that acts as a zoom in and zoom out? We thought that the dial was to decrease and increase the sensitive of the sensor. When we did zoom out it would detect the carpet and the tape. So is their a way to zoom out and have enough sensitivity to only track the pro-gaff tape?

The sensor is retro-reflective which means that it measures the reflective properties of whatever it is pointed at. If you turn the sensitivity all the way in one direction, it will trip if it has barely any reflection, however, in order to make these sensors work, you have to measure a slight difference between the carpet and the tape that they put on the ground (meaning that unless you have the exact same carpet that they use at competition, you will have to calibrate once you get there.) On our setup, the line sensors are only 2-3 inches off the floor.
