Jaguar Screw terminals

I was told by my intern at work that there is an issue with removing the screws on the terminals of the gray jaguars and that they should only be loosened and use u shaped on ring connectors on them?

and that if they are removed, metal shaving get into the terminals and could cause problems.

any experience or info on this?

Re: Jaguar Screw terminals

This is indeed true unless it has been fixed on later versions. In our first year using Gray Jaguars we killed a couple this way. The Black Jaguars don't have this "feature".

If you've already done this to your Grey Jaguars but they are still functioning, I'd suggest taking them apart and blowing out any chips with canned air or an air compressor.

It's covered in the Jaguar FAQ. http://www.luminarymicro.com/jaguar

This is true for all Grey ones. The Grey were built for only one year, and the same captive terminals were used on all built.

This is no longer true for the Black ones. The terminals were changed to non-captive screws and so if removing a screw from a Black Jaguar, there is no debris left.

For the non-captive screws, it is recommended that you only remove one screw at a time to avoid mixing the colors and making a costly mistake later.
