Custom button board/inputs?

I'm seeing some topics on people making custom input devices, and was wondering how you'd go about doing this. Any kind of documentation on it?

Re: Custom button board/inputs?

There are three general ways to do it. One is to use the Cypress PSoC "FirstTouch" board (we received ours in the 2009 Kit of Parts) which is specifically supported by the Driver Station software. eStop Robotics makes a Custom Controls Interface that serves a similar purpose, but it looks like a USB joystick to the software. The last way is to physically disassemble a joystick and wire it up to whatever you want to use.

If I was trying to use the cypress version how would I go about wiring and programming a button and led?
