You guys should invest in a rolfcopter. It makes the longest of trips insta-short.

I hope the plan is broadcast on Thursday as well. Even though it's just practice, it's still Knoxville action!!!

About eight hours for the St. Louis area teams, 931 and 1208. Driving by way of Mt. Vernon, IL --> Paducah, KY --> Nashville, TN then eastward to the most beautiful mountains I know. Wish I were going ... :(

48 is leaving at 10 PM Wednesday night, arriving 9-ish hours later via Akron, OH; Columbus, OH; Cincinnati, OH; and Lexington, KY...just in time to hit the ground running on Thursday.

Is brushing one's teeth permitted in the pits?

You can, but toothbrushes and toothpaste are not permitted.

Yes but you have to buy the water from the venue.

Anybody got any guesses about the weekend?

1261 preliminary scouting tells me that it's going to be CRAZY. The number of capable robots in attendance is somewhat insane.

For me, I could name like 16 teams that could all win, but I think it's going to come down to the minibots. Besides that, it's like tossing 4 coins to see which teams are going to take it away this weekend.

Here are the 10-point OPR and above teams for the Smoky Mountains Regional (the *official* name of the event, by the way!):

(taken from Bongle's Week 4 list):

Code:

Team Number OPR Rank    OPR Max
234        10          57.10
1519        57          40.13
71          93          33.21
1421        113        31.02
1592        123        29.12
1261        127        28.84
931        146        27.68
48          167        25.59
1208        224        21.67
1024        241        20.77
829        268        19.33
801        275        19.00
337        338        15.71
34          457        11.24

How many of those have been upgrading their abilities since they last played?

How many who have competed but who are not in the list above have done the same?

Additionally, 26 of 47 teams competing have not yet played, so who knows what great robots and minibots lurk within that group?

This should be a fun one! :)

1249 will be leaving in the morning for our four hour trip. We have worked on minibot deployment and claw since pittsburgh, practice bot works a lot better with the changes. Small but necessary changes to be more competitive. Looking forward to the new region and new friends

Thanks for the offer and I would love to be able to accept! Actually, I would ride in your bus luggage compartment, hitch-hike, or hop a freight train to get there ... if I could take the time away.

But, after spending the last three weekends at FRC events (Waterford, St. Louis, Niles) I fear my boss at work would fire me, or my more important boss at home would shoot me, if I were to go a-roboting for a fourth straight week.

(And yes, I still plan to be at the Michigan State Championship, and at the FIRST Championship in St. Louis. :) )

Yeah, for sure. I have a feeling that the qualifications won't be a walk in the part either.

Man, this is going to be one hell of a first year regional.
