As a heads up, I believe the question regarding match length is off; the "correct answer" listed for that question is 3 minutes 15 seconds, when in fact matches are 2 minutes 15 seconds long.

Re: Robot Casserole Team #1736 announces this year's Rules Challenge

I would recommend going through all the questions/answers again and checking them for spelling, typo's, and clarity. For example:
Quote:

Teams may bring a maximum of ____ panels of custom fabricated items.
Panels should be pounds, and for clarity you should state this is the WITHHOLDING ALLOWANCE. It wasn't until I read the possible answers did I realize what it was really asking.

Quote:

Any borrowed MINIBOT which scores points by legally triggering the TARGET during the MATCH receives ____ point(s).
What type of points? When reading it at first, I thought "It could be 30, 20, 15, or 10, depending on what place they get". Only after reading the possible answers did I realize you were referring to Coopertition points.

Quote:

The robot must be at least ____ in play
Apparently the answer is 62 inches... although I have no idea what the question is actually asking.

Making something like this is a great resource for teams... but it also has to be completely correct and understandable by everyone who reads it.

Re: Robot Casserole Team #1736 announces this year's Rules Challenge

I got some as well...

Quote:

If a robot touches their own tower before deployment time they will recieve a ______.
There is no penalty on touching the tower. Damaging a tower is potential disablement; grabbing, grasping, or attaching to one is a warning, with disablement after that warning (exception--deployment in the End Game).

Quote:

Robots _____ break the plane of the center line.
The answer "may not" was listed as correct. However, if you want autonomous, you need to say so, like in the question
Quote:

Robots may not break the plane of the center line during the autonomous period.
. There is no prohibition on this action during teleop.

Quote:

retrieved from the tower in less than _____ minutes.
Spelling, grammar, completeness--need I say more?

There was also one with NO correct answer shown. I was able to skip by hitting "Next".

Ditto on the match time.

Also, your adding algorithm for correct answers is wrong or docks a point for an incorrect answer--which should be stated. I answer 20 questions, I get 19 correct (and the one incorrect one was an incorrect "correct answer"--see the match time comments above), and my score is shown as 18/20.

Oh, and getting the same question twice on the same run is a little, shall we say, weird?

He did say it was a "Rules Challenge". He did not say in what way the challenge would be. ;)

Can't see where I rank on the list  I took it, recorded it, but now the list won't show back up. And who is this Jordan guy? Why does he get all of the top spots?

Re: Robot Casserole Team #1736 announces this year's Rules Challenge

A few problems:
I got 3 question twice (one was back to back).

Quote:

Which of the following is excluded from total cost calculation.
Correct answer is apparently spare parts, while the other 3 answers include snacks, gas, and something I can't remember. I'm assuming it's supposed to read "Which of the following is included in total cost calculation?"

Again, some inconsistencies in rules and the spelling and grammar need to be a little better in order to be properly understood.

I feel this is obligatory for this context:

Re: Robot Casserole Team #1736 announces this year's Rules Challenge

Still got a couple:

Quote:

The match is _____ minutes and ______ seconds long.
You're still saying 3 minutes, 15 seconds is the correct answer. Slip of the fingers, but it's 2 minutes, 15 seconds

Quote:

The DAP-1522 radio must be mounted on the ROBOT such that field personnel are visible to field personnel.
You're saying true... I believe that you mean the lights on the radio are visible to field personnel. Would appreciate that being reflected in the question.

Quick note:
Quote:

How many points are decremented from the Alliance score in the event they are assessed a Penalty?
There were two answers marked as "3" in the answer list.

Re: Robot Casserole Team #1736 announces this year's Rules Challenge

"Judges can declare the minibot unsafe at any time." - Should be false - inspectors and/or referees maybe, but not judges.

"Ubertubes can be used in both Autonomous and TeleOperated modes" - Should be true - they can be used, but they can't be scored in Teleoperated period.

As Eric mentioned, precise usage of the language is important.

It's better, just have some errors in grammar and your terminology. You refer to the ICOP, which I'm guessing is supposed to be KOP, and you mention CUTS electronics, I believe you mean COTS. :p

But this is a great resource for learning some rules! Great work!

Got another one for you, Mark.

Quote:

Blue-tooth is allowed on the minibot,
The correct answer is false (NXTs, if used, have to have their Bluetooth disabled per <R92>). Yours is listed as true.

Jordan is actually my team's safety manager. As you can tell he often gets bored:)
