Problem with wireless
 

I seem to be having a problem with the d-link when I connect wireless, but not when directly wired. I plugged into the d-link (in ap mode) with an Ethernet cable, I was able to configure it's settings. I then changed the LAN ip to connect to the new settings (10.34.13.1 on the router, 10.34.13.51 on my computer). I was able to connect like that. I ran into a problem when I tried to connect wireless though. When I connected wirelessly, I changed my computer LAN address back to default, and changed my wireless ip on adapter 1 to 10.34.13.51. When I connect, it takes a while to connect and then tells me I have limited connectivity. Originally the driver station would say no robot communication and two lights on diagnostic (DS Radio and Bridge) would flash alternatively. When I tried to navigate to the settings page on the d-link, I couldn't connect. Help?

Hi team 3413!

We have the same problem with the d-link AP.
we tried everything and it seems that the wireless of the D-link can't communicate with anything, but if i connect it direct to the laptop with a cable i have no problems to communicate.

When Windows tells you "limited connectivity", it just means it doesn't find a connection to the internet.

If you're able to use a hardwire connection, but the same settings don't work over wireless, I'd start to suspect you either didn't set the radio band properly (for 99% of computers, you'll need 2.4GHz mode) and/or you've enabled some kind of MAC filter on the wireless access by accident.

Can you actually see the wireless access point? Try changing the name a few times and make sure the computer sees the different network SSIDs to confirm you're in the right radio band.

So far none of these solutions have worked. I understand that limited connectivity means that it doesn't connect to the internet, but I was just posting it in case it affected something. I can see the wireless accsess point. I've changed the name and I can see each different one. I've also reset the router and went by the instructions directly as listed on the radio pdf, and it still does not work. I tried connecting with the classmate from last year, and it got connection. The problem is our reimaging flash drive does not work so I cannot get the 2011 software on it. What can I do to get my personal computer to connect with the robot?

You don't need the Kit reimaging flash drive to get the new software on your old Classmate.
That Kit flash drive only gives you Windows 7, if you want it.

This year's software comes from the Kit LabVIEW or WindRiver DVDs and the online Software Updates.
You can install them all via any generic thumb drive just like you do for your own laptop.

Are you referring to the router that we have received in the past years (i.e. not this year)? If so, you cannot use a router along with the DLink in AP Mode. You can use the router if you configure it with the DLink in Bridge Mode. But good luck to this, there has been no official documentation on this procedure and although it is a fairly simple process I have not heard of any teams doing this.

We were using last year's router as a connection for our programming team to our SVN Server. As that router's SSID is "1208" and the DLink's SSID is "1208" if the router is turned on we cannot connect to the DLink with our Classmate. There is obviously a solution to this to enable both functions to work, but the simplest was just to turn off the router when we were using the robot, as we only needed to access the SVN Server at the start and end of the day for backing up software.

if I understand you correctly, you're saying that we don't need to use the router to communicate with the Dlink with our Classmate. We can communicate wirelessly from the Classmate to the Dlink (can ping it and http to 10.25.23.1), but when we run the driver's station, we never get communication with the robot. the Dlink is connected to LAN port 1 of the Crio, the Dlink is set on AP, and the security has been disabled.
any help would be appreciated!

Yes that is exactly correct. You should not be using the router. Make sure it is turned off. We had issues where the router would be mistakenly turned on without the programming team's notice and spent about an hour of troubleshooting before we caught this. This has actually happened 3 times.

Can you ping 10.25.23.2? That is the address of the cRIO. If you can, the the issue is with the Driver Station. If you can't, there is another problem (such as a firmware issue). Make sure you set your team number on the DS. If this doesn't work, a fix that we used was to set the connection in the developer mode, and then in the driver mode set it to use a manually configured connection.

Hello this is the programmers from team 2486 we are having trouble with the wireless bridge. the spikes and solenoids we are using start to turn on and off while we are connected to the d-link, and it doesnt matter where we have the bridge. when we use the wireless from last years system everything works fine. so does annyone know what is going on with the wireless bridge.

Hello teams. team 2486 found that the wireless bridge has issues communicating with windows vista. the bridge communicates with windows 7 properly. we dont know about other opperating systems.

Hello, I'm from team 1939. We have had the same problem this year and I was wondering if anyone could clarify the network setup that I will crudely try to recreate
Is it cRio-->dlink (new router)---->Classmate---->driver station software
Or is it. cRio-->dlink (new router)--->old router ( configured for last year)----> then so on
