1771 slow speed elevator test video

We still don't have our Banebots gearboxes , so we have a slow speed substitute installed for testing. It seems to work well enough. We need to change encoders, the magnetic encoder seems to be noisy (the encoder we are using is a COTS magnetic encoder from RLS). We are getting random noise on the outputs when the shaft is not moving, which is interpreted as encoder counts. Has anyone else seen this with magnetic encoders? We will probably go with a standard optical unit for competition.

I love how you removed the ceiling tile to get full travel.

Looking good 1771.

Looks like another solid robot from 1771. Will we be getting a sneak peak at the scrimmage on Saturday?

612 still hasn't gotten the banebots gearboxes either for our elevator. At the moment we are living off of the window motors. Even though your elevator is going slower than you expected, it still looks good. I can't wait to see it in action!

Looks great and quite similar to ours. Are you guys planning on piking off the floor or just through the loading slot?

We have floor pick up option, but we may not be able to implement due to weight restriction. My personal opinion, based on watching films from 2007, is that picking up from the floor won't be a huge advantage. Getting tubes from an alliance partner will be.

As much as we would like to test things out, If we get our Banebots order. we will likely be installing motors and gearboxes on Saturday.

What banebots transmission are you looking for?

Two 4:1 RS775's and two 132:1 RS550's with motors

What is the current substitute motor/gearbox combo you are using?

We have last years' FP mounted on an andymark planetary, mounted to a Cimple gearbox, with a 2:1 chain reduction. It is too heavy to use for competition, and has too much reduction. We plan to use a RS775 on a 4:1 P60 with the 2:1 chain reduction.

I'm not totally sure if it'll give you similar results to what you want, but have you ever tried taking out the final reduction in the kit FP gearbox and running a new output from that? It works pretty fast depending on how your lift is setup. We used it on a pretty large output though in 08 so not sure how different it would work with your lift. http://mortteam11.myrobotics.info/ph...ery/000015.jpg The two FP boxes were modded and then coupled together. Just a suggestion for a quick lighter lift gearbox. it does get hot though :/

Hope your BBs come in on time! I'd like to see another regional win from 1771! Good luck.

Bummer. We have 64:1, 16:1 and 256:1 for the 550's but no 132. Hopefully they'll be in before scrimmage. I'd love to see how well it works.

We have implemented a very similar ladder system, though were forced to cut off the third level due to weight. We had the choice of either that, or essentially removing floor pickup. It is interesting to see another team forced to make the same choice, but choose the other option. I will be eagerly awaiting how you guys do!
