are teams allowed to have more than 2 controllers in the control station,or are we just limited to 2 controllers

Search for "console" at http://www.usfirst.org/uploadedFiles..._19Feb2011.pdf

You'll find some relevant rules, such as R77, stating that the whole thing has to fit on a shelf, but nothing that limits the number of "controllers" that you plug in.

Keep in mind, that you are limited to two drivers.

If by "controllers" you mean things like joysticks or gamepads, you can use as many as you can make work. The Driver Station application will handle up to four, and you can also use the Cypress PSoC to attach more things like switches.
