Purchase Line Trackers

I am trying to order 3 new Rockwell Automation Line Tracking Sensors but there are numerous similar-looking sensors on rockwellautomation.com.

Which one of these is correct?

Thanks

Re: Purchase Line Trackers

I suspect they are the RightSight General Purpose Sensors, because lasers are not legal on FIRST robots and we don't need to detect clear objects.

If you go to the Sensor Configuration utility linked to from the product page and enter in the part number given in the KoP (42EF-D1MNAK-A2), it seems to validate.

RyanCahoon would be correct. I recall the documentation papers we received with the sensors.

That model, 42EF-D1MNAK-A2, is OoS There is another model, 42EF-D1MNAK-F4 that just has a different connection, basically a pigtail with a quick connect. Does anyone know if that light sensor is legal?

You can use any light sensor you wish.
There is a restriction on the use of lasers of any type but any other COTS sensor is allowable as long as it doesn't cost more than $400.

We finally received our 3rd spare light sensor (Kit RightSight model 42EF-D1MNAK-A2) We ordered them 5 weeks ago...we got two just before ship date and the third today.

I would caution anyone purchasing these to make sure and find out a real ship date...You will need to phone and talk to the company.
Don't count on anything you read online...talk to the company and find out...

If you don't you may not have them in time for any competition and they are pretty pricey to just have lying around...

good luck!!

As the rules are written right now, only the kit sensor PN can be powered by the solenoid breakout. Any sensor can be powered by a different method (eg PDB).

We are looking to purchase three units as well but have hit the same "out of stock" issue as others. This site (link below) seems to be the only site around that shows the part as being available at the factory. I called them today and they are looking into how long it will take to ship. I'm not hopeful...

Question: Assuming this part can't arrive in time (next week!), can anyone suggest a 'similar' part that would mimic what the functionality of the original part (orig part num: 42EF-D1MNAK-A2) is doing so that we might purchase the similar part for testing purposes only? We accidentally shipped our robot with the three light sensors when we needed to have pulled them for additional testing.

Re: Purchase Line Trackers

That is where we ordered from
Be careful...It took them 5 weeks to get us 3
They showed in stock on the website but they are just getting them drop shipped from somewhere.

They told us they would let us know when they would be shipped but then never did. I called several times... got a date... they were a week late from the date they gave us and then 1 was backordered...

I hope you get some... don't count on getting them next week though...

Did you damage yours or do you need more? oops my bad I didn't read your post correctly. You shipped them...

I don't know of a direct replacement...there must be some...
I hope someone can help you

Our 3 photo sensors from the KOP are on the robot in a crate somewhere... they functioned just fine when we had them. Our reason for acquiring more is (a) spare parts, and (b) we still need to test our automation code more.

Our line tracking automation code (LabVIEW) was working weeks ago. Our robot physically came together late. The Students needed to combine the various code bases of the individual functions that the individual students were working on. Somewhere in there, things stopped working.

Looks like we will have to work the Line Tracking code on the Thursday of our competition. That's the first time we will see our photo sensors when we crack the crate open.
