That may be a problem. If it is not available on the market, it sounds like it falls outside the description of COTS. If that is the case, it may not be a legal transmission anymore.

I believe we chose to not use this exact same transmission this year for this specific reason.
If our interpretation is not correct, we might be able to help you out. Can someone verify if this is a correct interpretation?

It's legal.

<R29> COTS items from ROBOTS entered in previous FIRST competitions or COTS items that are
no longer commercially available may be used under the following conditions:
A. The item must be functionally equivalent to the original condition as delivered from the
VENDOR (e.g. a part that has non-functional label markings added would be permitted,
but a part that has device-specific mounting holes added would be prohibited), and
B. The item must satisfy ALL applicable 2011 FRC materials/parts use rules.
36mm, 64:1 ratio, Banebots transmissions came in the 2007 KOP as well, so any team around that year should have one.

Not exactly sure what your application is, but we've got this 256:1 RS-775 transmission I don't really want to dare to use.

OK, I see your point, and honestly, I'm glad to be wrong in this case!

Maria,
Send me a PM with your details, include a phone number so I can speak with you directly when I have the motor and trans. in my hand. I will see if we can get it shipped out ASAP!

Not a problem. Honestly, the only reason that I knew the rule was because we're using one on our claw. I LOVE the old 36mm Banebot Transmissions for little mechanisms like rollers and intakes. We've used at least one on our 2007, 2009, 2010 and 2011 Robots.

Re: Team 842 Needs Help

From the sounds of what you are trying to do, there might be a faster and less expensive alternative. Take a look at this thread for some possibilities.

You might be back on the air for as little as $10-$15. (Cheaper than shipping from Sac. and maybe a lot faster!)

I'll call you once I get to the school this afternoon.
