MENTOR ROBOT

Like last year, we will have a robot that is solely for the mentors. It will be in the qualification rounds just like any other robot. Mentors will be able to be a part of the drive team for an individual match. Here is your chance to show your team what you can do. Find a match where the mentor robot is on the same alliance as your team, or even better find a match where you square off against your team.

Sign ups will be the morning of our event.

What will be the mentor robot? We have a clone robot that we can provide for that if I do manage to convince my teacher for us to go this year. Should know if we are going or not by the end of the championship.

Last year we used FRC230's practice robot, but as the self proclaimed FRC666 team captain I am open to suggestions.

Re: 2011 Where is Wolcott?

For the mentor robot we will be going with team 230's back up robot again this year. The tormentors are back in action.

Also like past years we will be looking for some more back up bots to be loaned out for the day. We will try and match up pre rookie teams with a robot and a team that could guide them for the day.

Last year we had teams from
Waterbury - turned into 3525 Nuts and Bolts of Fury
E.C.Goodwin tech - turned into 3718 JunkYard Battalion

So if you have a second robot and are willing to 'mentor' a per rookie team for the day let me know
rcormier@wolcottps.org

or if you know a school that might want to come and be a team for a day let me know.

Pre Rookie teams are free

Also just to say it. Our elimination rounds are Round Robin where you have to lose twice to be eliminated but when you lose you go into a loser bracket instead of facing the same opponent twice in a row.

We started this in our first year because we had a small number of teams and needed to be creative in how we run elimination rounds. We quickly found we really enjoy this method as every alliance at least gets to go against two different opponents.

To be fair other invitationals have used this format and I believe Mayhem at the Merrimack was the first (that I know of)

Re: 2011 Where is Wolcott?

That sounds more like double elimination rather than Round Robin?
