That sounds more like double elimination rather than Round Robin?

Yes you are correct double elimination

The Aluminati are looking into going to this, since it looks very rookie-friendly. We're looking for good chances for our drivers to get experience, and this looks like a great place to do so. ^_^

I'll be hosting a NEMO (Non-Engineering Mentor Organization) meeting at 10:00 a.m. (room TBD). NEMO provides support to adult mentors who deal with all the non-technical things on a team like team organization, fundraising, teambuilding, travel planning, etc. The meeting is open to all adult and college-age mentors from any FIRST team, regardless if you are competing at WIWI. Please let your mentors know!

Here is our Lunch Time game

Memory Madness!!
About the Game: This game will be played on the 2011 Logomotion field with the triangular, circular, and square tubes (including the ubertubes). It will be played during the break for lunch. Teams of three players each will be formed prior to the game, and will compete to proceed to the next round. The number of teams will be limited, so players are encouraged to sign up early.
Gameplay:
• Teams of three will gather on the field at the time of their match, and tubes will be scattered all over the field.
• Teams will then be shown a 3x6 grid (on a piece of paper) that they will have to recreate on the racks using the tubes. The teams will be given 10 seconds to look at the grid
• A 50 second period will follow this immediately where the teams will attempt to hang as many pieces as they can. When fifty seconds has expired, teams will clear the field and the racks will be judged.
• A team can declare that they are “finished” and all gather in one of the feeding stations at the opposite end of the field (inside of the field, not where the human player typically stands). Once all three team members are in that feeding station, the members must ALL dance the chicken dance to signify they are finished. This will affect scoring in the result of a tie.
• The winning team will advance to the next round; the losing team is eliminated
Scoring:
• Teams will receive 2 points for each tube that is correctly hung.
• A complete row of tubes that are correct (a 1x6 row) will grant that team a bonus 5 points.
• Any incorrect tube will result in a deduction of 1 point each.
• If a tie occurs, the first team that is “finished” and has danced in their feeding zone will win the match. If neither team has declared themselves finished, the team with the fewest number of deductions will be given the points. If there is still a tie after this, the match will be decided by the referees.
• Points will be added together at the end of the match and the team with the most points wins
Additional Rules: If any of the following rules are broken, it will result in a disqualification for that team
• ABSOLUTELY NO PHYSICAL CONTACT
• No deliberate popping of tubes
• No knocking tubes off of the opposing team’s rack
• No hanging tubes after time has been called
• No hoarding tubes

Something new we are trying out at the WIWI

Guest Anounncer

Ever wanted to see if you have what it takes to announce a FIRST FRC match? Well here is your chance

Every 5th match we will have a guest announcer. Sign ups will be at the check in table. The guest announce will work with Peter Moore who did some of the announcing at the Connecticut Regional.

We are hoping people look at this as a fun way to increase team involvment. We do not expect anyone to walk on and be a pro announcer. So sign up, have fun, and make some mistakes

After running at BattleCry The Aluminum Falcons are looking forward to WIWI. Hopefully we have our own minibot running again by then or we'll be looking for some help from our friends.

The mentor robot and guest announcer are cool options for an offseason, perhaps i'll try my hand at it.

I hope you do. Both options only work if people are willing to give it a shot. So I hope we have some people step up and try them out

So every year we make our own awards. Some years they have been incredible, some years they were great on paper and not so great once when fully constructed. I think this year's award is one of our best.

Also please remember the tornado victims in Massachusetts. Rosie Robotics passed on to Team Max the collection bucket we had out at Beantown Blitz last weekeknd asking for monetary donations. Rosie will be donating the proceeds to the Pioneer Valley Red Cross for the tornado victims.

And yes, there were some FIRST teams mentors, students and families effected.

Thank you for your support.

Please make sure you have the name correct for any awards, etc. It's spelled "Aluminati"

Thank you!
