Re: Will we see a wall robot?

<G32> Neither ROBOTS, HOSTBOTS, nor MINIBOTS may break the planes of the vertically
projected borders of the opponent‟s ZONES, including a GAME PIECE in their
POSSESSION. Momentary incursions by a POSSESSED GAME PIECE will not be penalized
if they do not make contact with anything in the ZONE.
Violation: PENALTY. G61 does not apply to this rule, however strategies aimed at taking
advantage of this exception will result in a PENALTY plus a YELLOW CARD. If a ROBOT
enters the opponent's ZONE and does not make immediate effort to leave OR if it contacts
another ROBOT (or GAME PIECE in its POSSESSION) also in the ZONE, then the intruding
TEAM will receive a RED CARD.

There is a rule that states if you do not attempt to move out immediately you receive penalty and a yellow card.

Anyone have match videos of the other mentioned robots? I really want to see how a match ends up with that much blocking.

We will be very careful in out defense. Playing D during the end game and near end zone will be risky.

The amount of times we'll raise/lower the wings will be kept at a minimum. With the smaller compressor we have, and since we had to cut back two reservoir tanks, the battery drops below our optimal operating voltage if it fills the tanks more than a few times.

What drive system are you using on your robot?:) :)

4wd 8" AM plaction wheels with roughtop tread direct driven by toughboxes. It's nothing significant, but I hope it will be enough for what simple things we are doing. The wings have the same wheels with wedgetop tread. We should be running around 11fps I think? (I wasn't the one who ordered the Toughboxes so I'm not sure what reduction we ordered).

You're not having difficulty turning? :) :)

In the open configuration it definitely won't turn. With the arms up, our wheelbase is still a little too long, so we don't do 0 point turns that well, arch turns are fine though.

Then 16 and 148 would score like crazy like they did while 3553 held the other alliance to 0 points. I think Einstein's going to be exciting this year :)

And what was the scenario at the alamo?

I highly doubt the robot inspectors would allow for a net since it's way too much of a tangle risk with other robots. I can easily see a robot manipulator getting into a hole or even a fold in the net, try to turn, and getting horribly stuck together.

I thought I would chime in here considering our robot is being talked about lol :)

My name is Jordan and I'm one of the Team Captains from Team 3528. As a rookie team this year we wanted something that would be easier to design and control. I think we chose the right path.

The KC Regionals just finished up and we did pretty well I think, ontop of being chosen onto a top 8 alliance, we also walked away with the Rookie All Star. Just to let you know a little about our robot: 4 omni wheels and two plaction wheels on each of our wings, we were only able to be pushed around by one team and even then we held them pretty tight. When going up against teams that could put up two full logos when we aren't on the field, we held them to about one. I feel we were very very successful in our rookie year! plus, WE'RE GOING TO ST. LOUIS!

Woot woot

I've been playing with an idea that may work for your robot. Play D on the pegs for the first minute. Then deploy something that wraps around their tower preventing them from getting to their tower.

Congrats on the awards!

not legal. Check out the rules for touching the opponent's tower in the endgame.

Who said anything about touching it ? ;)

I foresaw putting down wings with rubber bases that would brake if pushed against keeping space between you and the tower.

What about breaking the plane of your opponent's LANE? Kind of have to do that if you want to wrap all the way around...

Sorry, yeah I didn't clarify this. Imagine a candy cane, thats what it would look like. Forcing them to deploy from within their lane would significantly handicap many robots. It would slow down their deploy them, and make them start moving for deployment earlier. Teams that cap til the last second would probably have to sacrifice a tube or 2 for a minibot.

I saw the hook of the cane blocking teams from accessing the tower from the narrow slot, and then blocking a good portion of the lane.

So if you were able to keep a robot to 1 logo, and then handicap their deployment, it may boost your value significantly

Until you get red carded when robots slam into you and your "wings" end up touching their tower.
