Minibot Battery

Is there anything stipulating that we HAVE to use the battery pack included in the minibot kit? The battery that came with it is currently much too heavy for our minibot. Though we can alter the design to accomodate the weight, the ability to use smaller batteries would be useful to us.

The rules state that you can use any battery similar to the one provided as long as it's of equal or lesser power.

no it doesn't.

<R92> The following items are the only permitted materials for use on the MINIBOTS:

C. no more than one 12V rechargeable NiMH battery pack identical to those supplied in the FTC kit of parts (PN W739057) except the 20A fuse may be replaced with an equivalent type of lower amperage,

Key word is identical.

Actually...

<R92>C. no more than one 12V rechargeable NiMH battery pack identical to those supplied in the FTC kit of parts (PN W739057) except the 20A fuse may be replaced with an equivalent type of lower amperage,

It has to be the same.
