Lake Superior Regional Video

I can not understand how the whole regional can be webcasted but there are no videos in archives... Does anyone have the place where the videos are? What happened to the blue alliance having all the videos?

Good luck to this new weeks competitors.

Were you there?
Did you archive the video?
If not, then who should have done it instead??

Don't complain about it unless you are part of the solution.

The video archiving process is time consuming.

From what I have been told the webcast footage was archived. It is saved as large chunks containing mostly footage that nobody wants. Somebody has to go through and split this footage into the individual matches and transcode them.

I have volunteered to work on that, but I will likely be unable to do so until after the Peachtree regional next weekend. I believe the raw footage will be put up on the Blue Alliance FTP as soon as the recorder is able to do so.

As Don said, the video drop is available at traditional events for any team to plug in and record the video from the big screen. If you didn't take the opportunity to do so, you don't get to complain about the posting speed of those who did and are choosing to share.

I would love to help with the video editing, where can I find the raw video?

I believe it will be going on the Blue Alliance FTP server, but right now it is an empty folder.

I'll send you a PM with further information.

www.thebluealliance.com works fine for me. The .net domain works for me as well, but it is just a redirect to .com

Thanks for the help and ideas... All i put up was footage from the matches that 2518 was in, because those were all we recorded. Someone said something about plugging into the footage that the big screen puts out, how do you do that? I would be fine with putting in the time, i just didnt know i had the resources.

The production company that FIRST uses at most of the regional events provides a "video drop" available for teams to plug into.

To record the feed from this, you need a recording device that can plug into the composite feed (red/white/yellow rca plugs). Common choices include DVD recorders, laptops with USB video capture devices, and a Pinnacle Digital Video Recorder that can record straight to hard drive (I don't think this product is readily available anymore).
