2011 Midwest Regional

Who else is excited for this regional? Who is going and what robots do you want to see. I personally want to see 16, 45, and 71 in action.

It's an honor for team 45 to be expected at Midwest. It's been a while since we've been there and it should be interesting seeing how things go. Wish us luck.

1987 looks forward to competing. It is our first time at the Midwest Regional and we are pumped! We look forward to seeing 16, 45, 71, 111, 118, and 1625 at the regional.

111 is really good again. They were in WI. When teamed up with Wave, they can score and score and score...

We tried to get in but it was already full. Next year we hope! Going to MN instead.

1675 is going to midwest again and we are very excited to see how the competition changes and play with some more of the "big name." Hoping to expand on our progress from Wisco.

Team 135 cannot wait to be at Midwest! Now that we have the bugs worked out of our bot, we are ready to face many of the same teams that we saw at Milwaukee. 1 week 1 day until the Midwest rumble!

Re: 2011 Midwest Regional

The Robot Inspectors at the Midwest Regional are going to be proactive when it comes to software versions. Please be ready to turn on your robot on Thursday morning in order to demonstrate that your cRIO and Driver Station are up to date. Current copies of the software will be available if needed.

The cRIO image should be FRC_2011_v28, and the Driver Station revision should be 02.27.22.00 (01.05.11.00 is technically legal, but the Inspectors are still going to insist on the newer one).

Two teams from New Jersey will be competing at Midwest it looks like, both from Newark. I believe that's a precedent?

Is anybody webcasting the Midwest Regional? There are so many great teams here that I want to see (including our sister high school, 1987).

The UStream http://www.ustream.tv/channel/first-midwest-regional says it was last updated 370 days ago, but the graphic shows the 20th anniversery version of the FIRST logo, and the show info looks more current.

NASA is not listing a link yet. http://robotics.nasa.gov/events/2011_frcwebcasts.php

Re: 2011 Midwest Regional

I really enjoyed watching the elimination rounds here on the webcast. Some beautiful robots on display.

Wanted to give a special shout out to 1987 (The Broncobots from Lee's Summit, Missouri). 3rd seed, 2nd alliance captain, Web-site and Quality Award winner. We will be building next door to each other in a new facility next year and it will be a pleasure to colaberate with such an outstanding team.

I'll leave it to others who were actually present to comment on each of the award winners and other fantastic teams at this regional. It was full of so many friends we have met at the GKC, 10,000 Lakes, North Star and Championship events over the last couple of years. You guys inspire us every year.

Your winners of the Midwest regional:

118
111
3494

Woodie Flowers Award: Gerald Becker (1675)
Regional Chairman's: 1675

First Dean's is not listed.
Full awards here

I wanted to say congratulations to 1675, a great showing as #8-seed, Woodie Flowers, and Chairman's!

Indiana had a GREAT showing with 45 (#4) and 2171 (#8) for being selected for eliminations after not being selected at Boilermaker. Another shout-out to 135 (#5). The big shout-out goes to 3494, a rookie team from Bloomington. They were a part of the winning alliance, and ended up as the rookie inspiration award. Note of worthy: all Indiana (45, 71, 135, 2171, and 3494) teams that attended were selected for finals! Congraulations!

I wish my team went... (I'll make note to pester about this to my team for a second regional next year).

Re: 2011 Midwest Regional

Midwest was so much fun. We tried to give Wildstang a run for their money in the semis, but their alliance was so powerful. I'm happy to get that first match off them and I think it surprised them. Team 45 will be preparing in the coming weeks for nationals and hopefully bring more pride to Kokomo and FIRST Robotics.

Congratulations teams 111, 118, and 3494

After the competition, I congratulated Raul (Wildstang's drive coach) on the win. He told me the TechnoKats' "serious D" in that first semifinal match had his driver scared. :ahh:

I loved 45's post auto use of the uber-tube. They shoved it towards the other alliances home zone at the very beginning of teleop so that it was not only a nusance, but also a potential <G34> to the other team for herding the ubertube out of the way while possessing another game piece. An inspiration for all teams with a struggling autonomous.

No offense, 1675 did have a great showing including what sounds like a well-deserved Chairman's Award, but your seed numbers are all messed up. Being selected for the #N alliance is not the same as being the #N seed.

The final alliance selections are here: http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...5&postcount=62 the final standings are here: http://www2.usfirst.org/2011comp/eve.../rankings.html

Congrats to all the teams on a great showing and an extremely competitive event. Can't wait until Championships!

Thanks to Illinois FIRST, the organizing committee and to all the volunteers for a truly great event! Thanks also to Wave Robotics, Team 2826, who transported half of our team down to this event.

Also, if anyone found a blue camera in a black camera bag, please PM me, as somone on our team lost one. Thank you.

This was a fantastic set of eliminations matches to watch. A number of fantastic alliances!

One Dean's list winner from 1732 has been identified in another thread, does anyone know the name, team number or both for the other winner?

Thanks to team 118 for the uber tube strategy. They told us about it in the qualifications the day before and it turned out to be quite advantageous.

Me and two of my teammates made the road trip to come see this regional. All the teams did great, it made for a very exciting elimination round! IMHO it is the most competitive regional.

Yes, I know. That was what I was trying to communicate through the seeding.

Does anyone have any pictures or video they took online?

Just curious, I want to see 111, 71, and the other powerhouses that were at Midwest in action.

We have a number of random pictures up from the competition, on our website. There are pics of a few of the different teams (and a lot of ours), but you'll have to wade through them all (including much silliness), they're not really organized other than by day.

Re: 2011 Midwest Regional

Thank you from Team 1675 to all those who have supported us through the years. It was once again a fantastic regional. Thanks to all of those who begin chanting "U-P-S" as we ran down on the floor to accept Chairman's on Saturday. For me anyways, that really pushed the emotions over the top. You are all so great!

Being a first-year mentor and having been on the team for four years, it was amazing to see all the support we got then and look back on all of the support we have had through the years. The love and friendship I feel amongst so many people in FIRST is really what keeps me coming back. I wouldn't be where I am today without the program, and I am grateful to everyone I have met in the process!

So thanks again! And to anyone who is attending Championships, I shall see you in St. Louis!!! Don't forget to pack your GP!!!
