I know there has been talk about this but i wanna see if its 100% true. Is it legal to remove the gearboxes on the minibot motors?

So, I just reread the team updates and found no mention that removing the gearbox was legal. Is it legal because it is not illegal?

In regards to to R47 and R93 Is the Gearbox on the Tetrix motor considered to be integral to
