Engineering Inspiration Championschip HELP!
My team (Iron Plaid #3103) won the Engineering Inspiration Award at the Alamo Regional. We are very excited at the chance to attend Championships for the first time (we are a third year team), but have no clue how to be competitive for EI at championships! :ahh:
How should we present our work? Any suggestions? Is there a formal presentation or just pit interviews? Should we make a video? |
Re: Engineering Inspiration Championschip HELP!
There are only pit interviews, and technically every team at championships is eligible for EI at the championship level.
That said, I do believe that the judges are given a list of teams that won EI at their regionals, and likely make sure to talk to them specifically. You won't really know which judges are judging EI, as they may be helping with other awards as well, though sometimes you can guess by their questions. The best thing you can do is have your pit crew/pit students ready to answer questions (many teams have mentors do "mock-judges" interviews. The next best thing is to have some fliers/paperwork you can give them to walk away with with information regarding your engineering efforts. If you submitted a chairmans award, often its good to hand them your essay. If you want to make a video for a pit display you can, though sometimes judges just prefer to talk to you directly. Most of all, be yourselves, enjoy what you do & don't stress! |
Re: Engineering Inspiration Championschip HELP!
Make sure the judges have a way to remember you. The packets you leave them with should be easy to read, SHORT, clear, and have some sort of unique image where they can associate the image with the interviews they held with your team.
I'll second Kim about removing all pressure. It should be a fun experience! |
