2011 Vegas Regional
Ok guys, the Las Vegas Regional is a week and a half away. Who's excited? and what do you expect?
Team 60 is thrilled to be at Vegas this year, and we expect a high degree of intensity throughout the competition. The best of luck to everyone. |
Re: 2011 Vegas Regional
987 is looking forward to a great regional with lots of qualifying matches ( team count is down to only 38) and expecting this to be another well run regional with officials using common sense when dealing with any technical problems that may arise (tower related glitches, etc...). This late season regional will have many teams who already competed and should offer some interesting matches. And we will of course webcast (with immediate archiving of matches) the event at: http://www.regionalwebcast.com or through our website here: http://www.team987.comIf you can't be there please join us via the webcast:)

Re: 2011 Vegas Regional
We havent been to the vegas regional since 2007 and are looking forward to it, even with a skeleton crew (less than half our team).
But first up, we have some other business to take care of.....the HI regional! :) Our robot flies out the following Monday on next day air to get to Vegas just in time for the regional......I hope. See you all soon! |

Re: 2011 Vegas Regional
This one is shaping up to be a great regional. The event staff is great as always, the Thomas and Mack is a great venue, and the teams are amazing. Lots of great robots and great people. It will be one to watch for sure. I am fortunate to be in attendance, but the webcast will be up tomorrow for those who aren't!

We got a pleasant surprise this morning at our robot inspection |
Re: 2011 Vegas Regional
A big thanks to our great alliance partners 2984 and 60 for our win yesterday and our tough finals opponents 1572, 359 and 2496. The regional turned out to be tougher than we thought it would be going in to it with tough defense being played and tube control strategies...a foreshadowing of things to come in St. Louis??? Glenn, it was a pleasure having at least one match together. One of these days we will play together during eliminations!
As a member of the Regional Planning Committee, a shout out to all of the teams that demonstrated so much coopertition and such positive energy! Thanks for making this another great regional. |
Re: 2011 Vegas Regional
Amazing regional. I was very impressed with the level of work and consistency 2984 managed to operate at. This was not the same team in San Diego.
We're going to worlds, and going to have to step everything up a notch again. |

2984 Had a very consistent mini bot thanks for your help in elims! Team 60, I don't know how you guys made it all the way around with out getting picked, but it was great to play on the same side in eliminations for a change. Your bot has one of the best drive trains in FIRST, you can push anybody across the field! Team 60 is such a team player. Team 987 really enjoyed playing with you. I hope we get the chance to play with you in St. Louis. Special thanks to 3011 for the students all the way from Germany that volunteered at the regional. We appreciate your help and hope you come back next year. Also congratulations to 3009 for winning Engineering Inspiration Award. 3009 is a real up and comer and keeps getting better every year. It is great to see another Nevada team succeed. I'm not sure if they are going to STL but if you are, team 987 wishes you the best of luck! (We also picked up your banner that was left at the Thomas & Mack) I hope every team had a great experience and comes back next year! -Keaton |
Re: 2011 Vegas Regional
Definitely a very competitive regional! Congrats to High Rollers, Vikings, and Bulldogs for the hard fought win!
Highlight of the regional: talking with Bill Miller for 15 minutes :) |
Re: 2011 Vegas Regional
Congrats to the La Jolla Vikings on their win, and Madison Devil Duckies for Chairman's!

Re: 2011 Vegas Regional
I'd like to thank the Vikings and the High Rollers for picking us, even though we had had some trouble on Friday. Thanks a ton guys:D.
Thanks to the volunteers, judges, and refs for putting on another great regional. And thanks to all the teams for doing your best and making it a competitive regional. |
Re: 2011 Vegas Regional
A big MAHALO to all of the event coordinators that made this event possible.
We had a great time again after not coming since 2007. Thanks to our alliance partners 1572 and 2496 on a great run to the finals. Congrats to 987 on another great robot. Their autonomous is unique, reliable and deadly with the double ubertube. Oh so close in trying to team up with them for the 1st time in elim. Joe, Marc, Eric, Trent and co. you guys are always great to talk to. We have a teacher here at our school from Cimarron, so I'm sure she'll be glad to hear about your success this season again! When we saw our match schedule Friday morning, we almost fainted, where we had to go up against 987 twice in a row, 2984, 60, 2485 twice, 1197, 3009, and 2102 (fastest minibot). It wasnt easy but a great experience where every match felt like an elimination one. See you all in St. Louis and for some of you folks, in Orlando first next week.:) |
