Our two drivers combined are 10' 1".

When I co-drove during Lunacy I had to duck to avoid the team number display. One of the cons of being over 6'6" with shoes on.

Well then 330s got it made. They score alot and their driver is a sixth grader whos only 5'2''. By the way 330, how is that legal? Just curious.

I believe the only limiting factor for a drive-team member is that they must be a "pre-college student." After that, it's up to the team to decide who they want to put on the field from the members of their team.

Yep, "pre-college student". That means that I could go find a kindergartener and they could legally drive the robot. I believe there is/was an FRC team of middle schoolers in Texas; at one point, they made eliminations (sorry, don't remember the number).

Our school is K-12, and there is some flexibility with grades/ages. He has been involved unofficially with our team for the past few years; it was decided to make him an official member this year.

They are still around. FRC 1484 Hoggzilla are from Hogg Middle School in Houston.

In fact Kris V. the emcee at Lone Star announced on Saturday afternoon, that a student on FRC 441, was his 7th year as a driver ( three years for 1484, and four years for 441).

It was a great decision at that! He is a great driver and does an outstanding job, especially for a 6th grader. There is a lot of pressure being a member of the drive team, and he seems to handle it and take it with ease.

On another related note about age and what makes a high school student. We just had a student graduate from our team last year, he had just turned 16 at the time, making him 11 and 12 his first year as a member of our team.

Just my $0.02. :)

There is no substitute for an experienced driver. Simbotics had a rather well known 5 year driver (which I joke is the Canadian exchange rate :D, but CAD is now more valuable than USD :p ).

:p I always have found CAD to be more valuable than my USD (at least solid works is) :D ;)

i defenetly have to duck when im driving im 5' 10" but my other driver is 5' 2" and i think he even has to duck sometimes :$... driveing is defetly the best thing becaus eu actually feel like you can make the diffrence...and u feel lik eur more valuable to the team.

Nope, this isn't true. The most driveteam experience we've had is Brandon Pruniak who was a human player in 2006 and driver from 2007-2009.

although im by no means the shortest person on the team, its often joked on 1089 that i am. so during build season at some point an idea was floated around to have me as part of the drive team to see under. this didnt come to fruition and im glad it didnt but it was still a funny thought. mind you im 5'6" so im not really that short ;)

Both of our drivers are 5' tall. However, the disadvantage is when robots with a tube in their possession stand in front of us, our view is blocked.

Sorry, those tubes/logo was our fault... ;)
