Team Match Schedules?

Is there an easy (ie. automated) way to get the specific list of matches for just one team during a regional?

When the practice schedule is released, we would like to get the list of matches just for my team so we can print them out and hand out to our team (students, mentors, parents, sponsors). Same for when the qualification schedule is released.

If you get the FRC Spyder app for android, you can get the list of matches for a specific team for the qualification matches. I don't know about a quick way for the practice matches though.

That's a great idea

One other method is to copy & paste the entire schedule into an excel spreadsheet and write some VB code that searches for matches with your team number and copies those matches to a new sheet. Our scouting spreadsheet has had that functionality for a few years. Of course we don't really use that anymore because everyone uses FRC Spyder.

The FMS has the ability to do this, and they can print a copy for just your team's matches. However, they usually don't because it is very very long. (When you have 50+ teams)
Usually, there is 1 or 2 copies at Pit Admin that you can go and borrow or copy from.

Copy, paste, email them. We're special in our own way Karthik. ;)

P.S. I love my BlackBerry.

Find a student who is not very busy in the morning, have that student get a pen and paper and start writing. Some things can be done with ancient technology.

If you have a laptop and a printer, you could get that student to type it and print several copies.

I usually take a picture of the match schedule so I'll have it on my camera, it's not easy to search but it does have the info.

I should start bringing a typewriter with me to have in the pits...just to show kids what we used to put up with...

LOVE IT! I love technology, but sometimes there is nothing wrong with doing things the old fashioned way. Get those kids away from their iPhones and laptops a little bit! :)

Indeed.

I print the entire schedule once it's posted online (usu. Thursday night).
I use a highlighter and mark every match that contains my team ... I eyeball-check my paper highlights with Firefox' CTRL-F "Highlight All" feature when viewing the Qual Schedule.

Fold it, stuff it into my back pocket.

Over the course of Friday and Saturday, I was asked dozens of times by my students, "do you know our next match?"... I just pull out the folded copy and point.

Faster than any smartphone, easier to use than viewing a camera image.

(If the hotel you're staying at has a "Business Center", learn to use their printer)

For a guy who likes his phone, you sure complain a lot about it. Sooner or later you'll take off your Canadian blinders.

To all of you extolling the virtues of pen & paper, highlighters, idle students, typewriters, etc, I challenge you to retrieve the event schedule for any given team faster than a smartphone app.

I know when to use the correct tool for the job ! :) Technology wins in this case.

If you are on a computer, hit Ctrl + f, then type in your team number and it will be highlighted for each match.

I love my phone. I just don't like how certain developers who willfully exclude a massive share of the Smartphone market. ;)

Having used both the Android and Blackberry SDKs in my spare time (which is what anyone developing FRC apps will be), I can say that RIM's website, documentation, emulator, and SDK are all awful things to work with compared to Android's. If someone gave me a good (and simple) idea for an FRC app that hasn't already been done, I'd give it a good try on Android, but wouldn't even think about doing Blackberry.

At Chesapeake the pit released a special schedule that listed each individual team and what match they had and when it was happening. It was a nice feature that I hope to see at other events.

Anything is faster than using a smartphone app if all you have is a dumbphone.

Use whatever you want....

The AZ regional qualification match schedule was not available on the internet Thursday night, like it usually is. I have never seen the practice schedule on the internet ahead of time. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

This is one of the many reports that can be generated by FMS. If peopole request them the Scorer can generate them.

I believe it was Team 79 who distributed those match schedules for teams. It was definitely very helpful and for once I didn't have to walk around with a 8 1/2 by 11 papers in my pocket.
