Wisconsin off season Regional?
Team 2077 is planning on hosting an off season regional in wales Wisconsin, which is near Waukesha.
I wanted to know what the interest would be, and what you would like to see at this off season event. |
Re: Wisconsin off season Regional?
That would be awesome!!! Team 1675 would definitely love that!
537 does a great job with their pre-ship invitational deal. I am sure that if you contact them, they would be willing to help. You need a full field obviously, concessions, awards, reliable field crew and a pit admin, enough room to have teams set up their pits, a good network of communication to make your team a success, maybe even a couple local sponsors that can help you out with the costs of running the event. It is also good to have activities that can take place in another area, besides the event itself. 537 always did their Segway rides, or had a button-making station and a t-shirt coloring station in 2008 I remember. You may also want to make your event more than 1 day long and plan on making it an annual even if you think that you will have enough resources. |
Re: Wisconsin off season Regional?
Also, try to find out when other local events are being held, such as the Summerfest demo, EAA Airventure in Oshkosh and other things like these that teams frequently demo at. Also, probably good to check out the dates for IRI and such so that you don't end up conflicting too bad with those things, and end up not having enough of a showing to make it worthwhile. If your team is going to St. Louis, you can also make up flyers with your information on it and hand them out and try to drum up interest in some out-of-state teams as well.

Re: Wisconsin off season Regional?
I would be willing to volunteer if it happens to be at the right time of year.

Re: Wisconsin off season Regional?
This would be a wonderful thing for Wisconsin.
If you wish to use one of FIRST's fields, we will be storing one here in Indiana, at the AndyMark facility. Here is more information regarding the usage of this field. Sincerely, Andy Baker |

Re: Wisconsin off season Regional?
This isn't the 'official' word from 1732, but I'm pretty sure we would be very interested provided it isn't during IRI or MARC.
|
Re: Wisconsin off season Regional?
2949's the same as 1732, not official but probably as long as its not the same as IRI. And I suppose as long as we have enough money :/
But it would be great to have another close off-season event. |
Re: Wisconsin off season Regional?
While I don't necessarily speak for our team, team 857 from the UP of Michigan would probably be interested in attending.
On things to have: - It would be nice if each team could have a large number of matches, maybe >12, because it's more fun. - Have teams queued in a sane manner (In my experience, they queue about 5 alliances ahead and you spend ~30 minutes in line:( ). - Some social or get-together for the teams would be fun. |
Re: Wisconsin off season Regional?
Here's a great guide for planning an off-season event based on one of the premier off-season events in FIRST. http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/papers/2076
For more details, contact Chris Fultz. Good luck! We're interested!! |
Re: Wisconsin off season Regional?
I would be for this but I agree with others that timing is crucial. I would consider doing something during the first month of school. This would be before any events for FLL took place, and would give us a chance to show any new commers what the program is about instead of just telling them and trying to convince them to stay before they atleast make it to the 537 scrimmage in February.
Hope to hear more soon! |
Re: Wisconsin off season Regional?
Cyber Blue is always looking to do one or two summer events.
Please post a date as soon as you have one, so teams can make plans. |
Re: Wisconsin off season Regional?
Count CORE 2062 in.
We would help anyway we could. |
Re: Wisconsin off season Regional?
As long as it doesn't interfere with IRI, preferably after, 1625 would most likely attend
|
Re: Wisconsin off season Regional?
I'm with Tyler on this: If you make it during the fall months, it'd be an awesome recruitment tool (granted that us graduating seniors will have a harder time attending)(but then more power to our younger students).
