CIM worm gearbox
 
Hi,
I am looking for CIM motor worm gear box, where can I find one?
(Just an off season learnning.)

I'm not aware of any worm gearboxes available off the shelf that are directly intended to have the CIM motor as an input. It's likely you could find another one meant for some other purpose that you could interface with without too much trouble.

Thats what we did. we got a worm gear (with dimensions similar to what the CIM need) and made some minor adjustments.

While not made for a CIM, exactly, team 1425 used a very spiffy one from Rino Mechanical for their arm:

In 2007, 1425 used worm gears in their drivetrain. I don't know how much they bought vs made, however.

Previously they made their own but this year they were using the off the shelf version. The team has switched to more student construction so that may be one of the reasons.
