Re: [FTC]: Best Teams in FTC?
What exactly are you looking for? Just, interesting teams, or world-qualifying ones?
This year the teams were having a lot of trouble getting themselves together (as did we), so it wasn't as obvious which teams had more experience. But anyway, the teams we were watching this year did pretty well. I'll group sister teams together. -Lancers 3415 and Landroids 4220 - both are very friendly, well-rounded teams and both won state Inspire awards. -Pope John - 248, 247, and 4301 (I think) - all three teams made successful robots, but had some difficulties and distractions through the season (FRC mostly). -MFS teams 110, 4500 and (237??) - ambitious -Steel Hornets 118 - I think they designed their entire robot in PTC. -Techbrick 7 (not really from NJ, but hey.) - Awesome costumes, btw. -Us, 3539. We got the NJ Inspire and stuff. I think that so far, the only award we haven't gotten is the connect award, which is ironic, considering the amount of outreach we did. And then there were some rookies who did really well that I think will be highly competitive by next season: -Watt the Hex? 4311 (our sister team) - scored magnetic baton, won NJ PTC award. -Overdrive 2753 (former FRC team) - sadly, didn't have as much time as they needed this year. -Timothy Tigers 4031 - Well-rounded team, world qualifier (think award, finalist partner) -CHS Cougars 4201 - another world-qualifier - great robot -Nanogurus 4347 ...And then I'm sure I'm forgetting some teams, but these are most of them. |

Re: [FTC]: Best Teams in FTC?
This post seems a little self-serving John.
You ask for the best teams in FTC, and then reply to yourself listing your own two teams. Then you complain about not getting an invitation to Worlds and suddenly you're on the list. Just sayin' Phil. |

If you're asking about which robots are more competitive than others, I think in our area the world-qualifying robots are all equally competitive. A lot of the matches were left to chance (Samantha) this season, and we didn't see much dispensing. Expect some solid, consistent autonomous modes, however. ...And maybe look out for my team if we ever actually get our robot working the way we want it to and finally get some driving practice. |

I listed my teams due to the award basis fact. I've been in FTC SC for three years. since the induction of the Tetrix kit. If you would also notice I Took the time to assign the teams that aren't affiliated with Aiken County at all on a higher order than my own due to their Inspire award winning status. My team has existed counting this year 2 years. I am the first to say we are no where near the best. This isn't to serve me It's to get feedback from the FTC community on what teams in their home states have had a history of good robots. I am doing this since no such site exsists such as FRCTop25 where OPR and other decided factors can be voted upon. |

Normally I wouldn't have even noticed, but every time I see G-FORCE I say... hey, that's my team their talking about, and then I have to reset when I see OH, it's the "other" Gforce. Makes me grumpy! I know I'm flogging a dead horse here but PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, if you're a new rookie team thinking about a team name for the first time, make sure you check online to see if you are stepping on the name of an established team. There are no written rules saying that teams can't have the same name..... but we all know that teams put a lot of effort into establishing their personality at the local, regional and national level. It doesn't take more than a few minutes to do a quick Google/Youtube/Chief Dephi search to see if an FTC/FRC team has the same name. (3864 would have found G-FORCE 2818 in about 2 seconds) So, please rookies, be a good FIRST citizen and create a unique name/personna for yourselves right from the beginning. Phil. |

In Rhode Island:
There are four Schools/Organizations that dominate. This is only counting each teams instate accolades. AIR 4H: 121 Rhode Rage- 2x Winning Alliance, 2 World Championship trips, 1x Inspire 4497 - 1x Winning alliance, 1x World Championship trips Renegade Robotics out of Burrillville High School: 154 Renegade- 5x Winning Alliance, 4 World Championship trips, 2x Inspire Providence Career and Tech: 657 - 2x Winning Alliance, 2 World Championship trips 3971-2x Winning Alliance, 2 World Championships trips Mt. Hope 692- 1 Time winning alliance , 1 time inspire award 3351- 4531 Not posting this out of arrogance like someone suggested of an earlier poster as I am not a member of the team and only mentored them during my winter break from college. |

Besides the Rhode Island championship, we have gone to Connecticut, New Jersey, and Delaware (2x). I think there are many competitive teams across the country and world in FTC and it is hard to pick one team that is the best. No matter the event, I always look forward to meeting other 4-H teams. AIR will be in STL with a small crew, but always ready to compete. |
Re: [FTC]: Best Teams in FTC?
It's the teams you don't know about that you should worry about.
|
Re: [FTC]: Best Teams in FTC?
I agree completely. It's impossible to tell who is the "best" FTC Team out there. Every year new teams will arise with skills and ideas that are unheard of. Very rarely will one team completely dominate the game year after year. In my opinion, a lot of the champions are where they are because of how they work together with their alliance partner.
Two well-strategized robots can overcome even the strongest powerhouses in FTC. Just keep this is mind ;) |
