I offered them one of our loaner minibots as well via PM (to a couple members of their team). I think PM is probably the way to go (for other to offer minibots) since members of their team might not read the rest of this thread. I have a read receipt but no responses yet. |
Re: 2011 Curie Division
Thanks everyone willing to help! Our team is meeting tonight, I'll bring it up :)

Re: 2011 Curie Division
Just in case anyone missed our other thread, we have posted a link to our Curie robot photo database that everyone is welcome to utilize. Keep checking back here as we will continue to add the missing pictures.
http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...threadid=94758 We pulled these pics from team websites, other CD posts, and have now resorted to screen captures from YouTube clips. So, if we don't have a photo or it is not a very good picture of your robot, we apologize but you've hidden them well.... |

I don't know about other non-magnetic, direct-drive minibots, but ours is sensitive to misalignment. If the deployment system pushes the minibot sideways against the pole, then there's too much pressure on one roller, not enough on the other, and the minibot just spins out. Plus all the concerns about bending shafts and such. So while I'm willing to loan out minibots, I'd also like to set up the loanees for success. |
Re: 2011 Curie Division
Team 3492, RoboGens, is another Rookie team that is excited to be going to St. Louis next week! :)

Re: 2011 Curie Division
Similar to what I did in previous years, I ran through 100 simulated qualification match schedules (all 147 matches, using the FIRST match generator). I used each team's highest opr at any event for their contribution to a match. I calculated the standings for each of the 100 simulated qualification schedules, and then looked at some statistics from the aggregate results.
Code:
Team OPR Avg Rnk Med Rnk Mod Rnk SD Rnk Max Rnk Min Rnk #1 seed Top 8 Avg QP Med QP Mode QP StdevQP Max QP Min QP |
Re: 2011 Curie Division
Interesting that after 100 potential match schedules 24 different teams appear as the #1 seed, including the 38th, 39th, and 40th teams in the OPR listing. This division looks wide open with match pairings playing a significant role in the fight for the #1 seed. I would hate to see the list of matches that had us finishing 62nd in the field. I don't doubt that it could happen though.
Thanks Joe for helping us anticipate the best and worst possible outcomes of the match pairing algorithm. |
Re: 2011 Curie Division
Looks like a great division this year!! Looking forward to seeing a lot of awesome robots and cheering on a Curie win on Einstein.
And now, a Public Service Announcement from your friendly neighborhood LRI: PLEASE DO NOT FORGET YOUR BAG & TAG LOCKUP FORMS!!! if you last competed at a B&T event and then shipped "Bag in Crate". It will make both of our Wednesday evenings a lot better :) See Ya'll Soon!!! |
Re: 2011 Curie Division
nothing like the read deal though. no simulation can show the intense competition of curie this year!!!

2011 Curie Division And the MOEbile Pit!
To start I would like to congratulate all of the teams who are coming to nationals in St. Louis! All of your hard work and dedication is paying off!
Like any other competition there are some things that are bound to happen. Programs aren't going to run right, things will break, and countless of other things could go wrong (knock on wood!). But have no fear, MOEbile Pit will be there! For years MOE 365 has run a successful "mobile pit" which consists of a team of students that helps other teams with any problems that they encounter. But this year we are stepping into the 21st century with the help of Twitter! If at any time during the competition your team finds themselves in need of help, Tweet @MOEbilePit with your problem/request! This is an experimental way of communication through which other FIRST teams can connect to our MOEbile Pit when they need assistance! If you have any questions feel free to post them, or Tweet them to @MOEbilePit . In the words of my greatest inspiration, Dean Kamen, "Good luck, and see you in St. Louis!" |

For those following along at home (and looking for the best matches) these are the OPR predicted results. First Column is match #, 2nd is Red Score, 3rd is Blue and 4th is the difference.

I'm hearing that Jane-Doll got to sit at the officials table sporting a balloon hat. That makes me laugh. Thank you to whoever made the balloon hat possible - I'm sure she is enjoying it.

Re: 2011 Curie Division
Well, we might only be approaching halfway through, but one of my favorite Ontario teams is in first, followed by one of my favorite Washington teams.
Go Theory6... Go Skunks... I'll be cheering for both of you! Jason |
Re: 2011 Curie Division
Team PyroTech is doing... Meh. xD Last time I checked, we were in 72nd. (probably lower now-- we lost our last match! (Just checked-- 78th xD)) During our last match of the day, autonomous worked flawlessly. We tried to hang a few tubes and didn't succeed. When we went to the minibot pole, the minibot fell off and pulled out the cord to our C RIO! I think we should at least get bonus points for that, we couldn't have done that if we tried!!
Overall, it was a great day. Definitley a different feel than our regional. Talked to some great people and teams! And to be honest, none of us really care that we don't have the best ranking, we're just excited that we're even in St. Lois! See you all on the field tomorrow! :) |
Re: 2011 Curie Division
We, 2751, had a weird day with lots of bad luck... minibot fell off... belt on the elevator snapped... etc etc... We are happy to be 2-2 right now, but we expect to improve a lot tomorrow
|
Re: 2011 Curie Division
I know how you feel, Gael Force has had terrible luck, we are however, a great bot, we have consistent autonomous, we score 6-7 tubes per match, and we do have a 1.5 second mini bot, our alliance schedule has just not worked at all, and our roller bound the last match so we had to herd tubes, ahh well we just hope someone picks us haha

In my opinion, the posts you are making are not flattering your team. Pick Me, Pick Me may be fine to yell during the alliance selections if you feel you really must, but I doubt that people reading CD right now are in the position to read what you have written and make any useful scouting conclusions from it, aside from that fact that you think your team is really really good despite yielding lack luster results on the field. |
Re: 2011 Curie Division
i agree with akash.
i think i just had a different, unpro. way of putting it in your eyes |
Re: 2011 Curie Division
It appears I have missed a lot while in St. Louis, and it's probably a good thing. I really hope Curie teams weren't swayed into a negative opinion of 573 due to the posts that were deleted.
I will reiterate what has already been said. Robert, ever since you registered, your posts have been extremely nonconstructive. Everything I have seen from you has been self centered and at the point of spam. You also need to improve on your grammar. This isn't Facebook, so capital letters, proper punctuation, and complete words and sentences are necessary. Seriously, think before you post next time. Quote:
I'm not trying to say that we were the best, or even anywhere close to the best. Could we have done better? Probably, but we are still proud of our performance, and we certainly aren't a bad team just because of a few deleted posts in this forum. With that being said, I had a good time at the Championship and competing with and against the other Curie teams. |

Congrats to 987, 51, and 968 on making it to Einstein.
Phil Lundberg, are you out there? It was good seeing you at St. Louis. Please PM me your e-mail and/or phone #. |
Re: 2011 Curie Division
2363 really enjoyed our first trip to the Championship. We had a great time competing against all of the teams in the Curie Division and look forward to hopefully seeing teams at other regionals and the Championship next year.

Re: 2011 Curie Division
On behalf of Team 1241 - THEORY6, I would like to congratulate all the Curie teams for being such amazing competitors!
Congratulations to 987 - High Rollers, 968 - RAWC and 51 - Wings of Fire on winning the Division and representing Curie on Einstein! Again a big thank you to our wonderful alliance partners; 2056 - OP Robotics and 368 - Team Kika Mana.. it was a pleasure to work with you and hopefully we shall meet again in St Louis next year! |

I can't say thank you enough to 67 and 1717 for picking us. We will hopefully build on this years momentum and come out even stronger next year. |

And thanks again to 67 and 1717 for picking us. I know just from being around this team a lot that this meant the world. Just to be able to play with two of FIRST's premiere teams in eliminations is a real boost. And like Josh said, they will build off of this. They have done a great job improving, and I don't think that this will be an exception. So thank you for not only picking 2751 for an alliance, but for inspiring and affirming that this team is getting better and better. |

Re: 2011 Curie Division
This was an amazing division this year and 1675 was proud to be a part of it. It was really great to have so many friends within the division but it was even greater to have the opportunity to make so many new ones.
Big thanks to Teams 71 and 469 (from Galileo) for lending us the parts we needed to fix and improve our minibot. Things were definitely clicking for us at the right time to reach the #9 seed and become the 8th alliance captain. Thanks to 1678 and 245 for being a part of the Ultimate Citrus Bots alliance - one tube short (which was on and then off) in the first match and one tube/one ubertube/one penalty short in the second match - not too shabby. It was tons of fun and a pleasure to play with you guys. We were really hoping to get to play against 71/2826/103 in the finals - 71 is my former team and 2826 was our busmates for the ride to St. Louis. Maybe next year! Lastly, congrats to 987, 968, and 51 for making it to Einstein. You guys were a great alliance and Chris' story about 51's drivers makes it even more impressive. Well done!! |
Re: 2011 Curie Division
Congratulations to 987(High Rollers), 51(Wings of Fire), and 968 (RAWC) on making it to Einstein. You guys were an awesome alliance to see happen.
and Thank everyone in Curie who made the FWC experience totally awesome this year! |
Re: 2011 Curie Division
Congrats to 987,51,968 For being the winning alliance on Curie. That alliance represented all of the 88 robots wonderfully on Einstein! Although it wasn't curie's year I still think we had some of the best competition at champs this year.
To our alliance captains 364 Team fusion You guys were a great captain and we enjoyed being on your alliance for elms and are sure glad you picked us. 365 MOE You guys are truly a hall of fame team, your robots continue to be great and you guys in your neon green are the embodiment of a first team. It was great to be partnered with you. Shout outs to 2056,1717,67,71, and every other captain and anyone else I forgot you guys make first the real deal and great! All of you guys inspire me! |
Re: 2011 Curie Division
Curie matches will populate over time here.
Mahalo to 1241 and 2056 for the privilege of being on your alliance. It was very much an honor. Aloha... |
Re: 2011 Curie Division
Aloha team 368 :)
It was an honour to be the number one seed alliance captain this year. Partnered with 2056 and you guys 368, it was just a pleasure. Thanks again! |
