Have you thought about addapting a Nintendo Power Glove in lui of you design.

See the link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_Glove

This would be a more condenced version and maybe more practical.

It's so bad.

This looks awesome.

How do you deal with the fact you can't hold the controllers during autonomous? It seems like you lose a few seconds every match with this. This was the biggest problem our team saw with adapting a similar approach.

This glove was supposed to be used for to control arm related motion. Also you could set the glove down on the driver's station before the match starts, then put the glove on when teleop. mode starts (as quickly as possible.....).

It's just a prototype our team didn't have enough time to try, but we're most likely to test this thing out during the off-season.::safety::

The Power Glove was the original prototype "code name" we gave the Mecha-Glove. (So sad that a device so amazing failed too early)

Our team had a similar idea, maybe not as complex but...
We made a 2 pivot aluminum bar arm that was made to fit our arm operator and using limit switches and a couple potentiometers to control the arm on our robot quite efficiently. Nice job guys, I hope to see more unique teams next year, veering away from just the joysticks.

Here is another system that works with PC, You would have to figure out the code to control your manipulator device and how much of a delay would be involved when using the device. I am not sure how much time and funding was involve with your device, it is still a great idea, just I believe in not re-inventing the wheel if there's one already out there to use.

http://www.vrealities.com/P5.html

The cost at the time of the post for the device was approximately $79.00.

Try to adapt an existing device, if available, saves time, time is money.

As we all know we do not have alot of time during build season, but this could be tested in the off-season.

Do not give up, keep working on it, teams have been trying for several seasons to adapt a hand control.

 :)
