Seen them getting filmed the whole time, its just that the book is about the 09 season and they are filming the 2011 season... The story won't line up.

Idk It seems like a good Idea but ya know spiderman 3 seemed like a great idea also. If they used an actual first team and went through everything they did It would be pretty cool I would like to see the adventures of 217, 1114, or really any team that builds a great robot every year.

I am not sure that the film crews you saw were for a movie, More likely they were for a news piece. Everything seems to be pointing towards this being produced by Scott Rudin and Disney and that it will be a screen play, not a documentary, meaning actors will be cast, they wont be editing together footage from this year.

The filming you witnessed is not for the actual movie. The producer and writer were at the San Diego and Los Angeles regionals filming to get a feel for what a competition is like and what a team goes through during a competition. They'll be using the footage they got to help write the screen play.

Oh, c'mon. You guys need to have fun with this. Who will play the characters in the book? We can cast this thing just as well as anyone in Hollywood, right?

I'll start:

Amir Abo-Shaeer: Alexander Siddig or maybe Don Hany

Andy B.

Well (clears throat), I am mentioned on page two of the prologue as "mentor dressed in a nun's habit". This could be my big break! :D

Dan Akroyd playing Andy Baker playing the nun from Blues brothers would be ironically appropriate...
