Thanks 968 and 51!
987 wanted to convey a giant thanks to our Curie alliance partners 968 and 51 being such great partners! We knew you guys were Einstein quality partners and worthy of the honor of proudly representing our division. Way to battle back from starting round losses to win the next two matches to move up the bracket. Also a special thanks to 1983 for their eager assistance with extra batteries.

Re: Thanks 968 and 51!
I wanted to start a thread, but you beat me to it.
We REALLY appreciate you picking us. Your team was a big inspiration to us all weekend and it was an honor to play with you. We all really appreciated you having faith in us. Our students could not have been happier, and all our supporters from back home were extremely excited when we were picked to be a part of your alliance. You should have seen some of the text messages we received from the people back home. In the end, we were a few point short and I wish things could have gone differently, but I'm extremely happy at what we did and proud of everyone for persevering in the face of adversity. Congratulations to 987 and 968 on a great event, and thanks again. |
Re: Thanks 968 and 51!
Team 364 would like to thank you guys for showing 1986, 365, and us a great, GREAT match. I was bummed to hear that you guys didn't win at Einstein, because y'all played like an Einstein team. Keep it up and hope to play you guys next year.

Re: Thanks 968 and 51!
I thought 968's strategy of grabbing the tubes from the opposing alliance and placing them in their own color lane was brilliant and very well executed. I am wondering though, did something happen to the 968 arm?

Re: Thanks 968 and 51!
This was one of my favorite alliances. Each bot had some very unique attributes.
987 was a scoring machine, forwards and backwards and a minibot that was very unpredictable in it's route to the top of the pole and back down (but made it nearly every time). 968 had a very cool looking frame structure for the arm . And 51 had backwards dunk hanging ability along with lots of orange polycord and a wrist joint that always appeared "bouyant" in its motion. Did 51 have swerve/ meccanum? I think I saw them do a bit of strafing. Thanks for making it fun for those of us at home on the couch! |

The "buoyancy" of the arm (good description, btw) has been the biggest problem with our robot all year. The arm is powered by a window lift motor which has a ridiculous amount of backlash in it. The arm can move through about 15-20 degrees of motion while unpowered just because of the backlash in the motor. That flopping is the one thing that hurt us, and the motor may be replaced with a Banebots + some gearbox for offseason events. |
Re: Thanks 968 and 51!
I would also like to thank 987 for inviting us to their spectacular alliance along with team 51. With an excellent strategy executed through out Curie eliminations, we were able to bring home a win :)

Being able to see you play your matches right in the front row was an honor. This was certainly a great fourth and final year to end on. Congratulations on an amazing season, and for doing so well. Thanks for making this special opportunity possible! I will wear my High Rollers shirt with pride! |
