Robot Video Game

At the world championship, I noticed that several FRC teams had created video games of their robots on the field, and people were able to drive the robots around using game controllers, all on a nice LCD display. I'd like to do something like this for my FTC team next year - does anyone know what software suite was used, or of one that is capable of something like this?

You may want to get in touch with the 5th Gear developers. Every year, they somehow manage to pull off a video game for the competition.

BTW, it's not going to be a single-person task...

You could try XNA game studio. From the looks of it that's what 5th Gear uses. Students can get it for free off of Dreamspark. If you have issues registering just email Microsoft and they should send you a code to complete your registration. Also, you can try Unity. Team 1986 used it to do their field simulation this year.

Both of them do work with Autodesk (.fbx) files so you can use any CAD design of your robot directly. I hope this helps!
